Do you know what\u2019s interesting about Lou Torres the new head football coach at Alhambra?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not that he\u2019s a classy guy\u2026I\u2019ve had only a few interactions with him, but he was stand up all the way.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not that he has served well as Alhambra\u2019s athletic director for the 14 years.<\/p>\n

What is interesting is he will be the first Alhambra football coach not named Gil Ruedaflores to lead the Moors in an Almont League contest. Think about that. The Almont was formed in the early 1990\u2019s when Schurr, San Gabriel, and Alham were peeled away from the Foothill League and added to Keppel, Montebello, and Bell Gardens.<\/p>\n

For the first time in nearly two decades they are going to need to new game film on the Moors.<\/p>\n

The only negative about all this was the process. We didn\u2019t need an insider to pass on information to make us understand that Zeke Prado\u2019s and Jude Oliva\u2019s interviews, though well intended, were just window dressing.<\/p>\n

Why wouldn\u2019t administration officials want to go with a steady, quality, guy like Torres to replace Ruedaflores?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not taking a shot at Prado and Oliva, it\u2019s to their credit they got consideration, but it\u2019s a bummer schools, or even NFL franchises, can\u2019t just hire straight out the person they want. Instead they have to jump through hoops.<\/p>\n

Last Add Alhambra: Who was the last HC of the football team before Ruedaflores arrived from Glendale College in 1989?<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Dodgers I was at Trader Joe\u2019s today and the Dodger Caravan 2010 bus rolled into the parking lot up in Pasadena.<\/p>\n

Everyone was coming out of the woodwork, so I didn\u2019t stay but I got to see Tommy Lasorda hop off the buss (\u201cnice, hopping\u201d) and he was followed by Dodger legends Rudy Law, Bobby Castillo, and Kenny Landreaux\u2026Okay not exactly legends. In the last few years Law has made more public appearances for the club than he had official at-bats in the bigs.<\/p>\n

A real legend was there in Tommy Davis\u2026and he was smiling until he found out he was traded\u2026again.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t wait to see Andre Ethier who was yacking it up on his cell phone\u2026<\/p>\n
