Jarell Sykes – Two touchdowns rushing and two receiving<\/p><\/div>\n

(Pasadena Bounce and Pounce) –\u00a0Jarell Sykes ran for two scores and\u00a0rushed for two more to lead San Dimas\u00a0to a\u00a0 55-14 rout of\u00a0 Maranatha Friday night at the Bounce and Pounce in Pasadena.<\/p>\n

The Saints scored\u00a0on their first three possessions and effectively\u00a0ended it\u00a0in the first quarter.\u00a0Noah Maldonado\u00a0scored on a 54-yard run to get the party started\u00a0early in the first quarter. After Daniel Jackson\u00a0picked off Maranatha quarterback Kwon Peterson on the next series\u00a0Sykes cashed in.\u00a0Sykes\u00a0dashed through the\u00a0Minutemen defense for 66 yards\u00a0to make it 14-0.<\/p>\n

Jackson showed his offensive prowess on the next series as he hauled in a 64-yard pass from Joey Tamayo\u00a0and with just 1:33\u00a0left in the first quarter the Saints were\u00a0up 20 and the San Dimas\u00a0bus driver was looking for his keys.<\/p>\n

Sykes got number two\u00a0in the second quarter\u00a0when he took a\u00a024-yard\u00a0swing pass from Tamayo, made a nifty move, and danced into the end zone.\u00a0Maranatha finally got on the board late in the second quarter\u00a0on a 47-yard strike from Peterson to Dimitri Mata. A two point conversion\u00a0made it 27-8 at\u00a0the break.<\/p>\n

Sykes got his third and fourth\u00a0scores on a four-yard run and\u00a050-yard reception on the\u00a0first two possessions\u00a0of the third quarter. San Dimas HC Mark Holman emptied his\u00a0bench\u00a0and got his twos and threes some work the rest of the way.<\/p>\n

Kaimana\u00a0Rodriguez\u00a0found the end zone\u00a0on a two yard run late in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

A running clock in the fourth quarter put an end to Maranatha’s\u00a0misery. San Dimas broke the 50 barrier when back up quarterback\u00a0Sebastian Street scored on a ten-yard run.<\/p>\n

Minuteman running back\u00a0Daniel Torres\u00a0provided one final highlight as he busted off an 87-yard TD scamper run as time expired.<\/p>\n

Sykes had 16 carries\u00a0for\u00a0150 yards and caught two passes for 80 yards and the four touchdowns. The Saints had over 300\u00a0yards rushing overall.<\/p>\n

“We’re executing on all facets right now.\u00a0Special teams,\u00a0offensive line,\u00a0defensive line,\u00a0I think we’re\u00a0light years ahead of where we were in years past,” Holman said.<\/p>\n

Maranatha fell to 0-1-1 with the loss while\u00a0San Dimas\u00a0 improved to 2-0. The Saints\u00a0have outscored their first two opponents\u00a097-28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
