I went out there with my dad in December and I really liked it,” Crockom said. “It had that small town feel. It was a real good fit.”

Crockom was impressed with Coach Robb Akey and his staff. He also liked the type of offense that the Vandals run.

“They have a real good quarterback and they run the run and shoot offense. It’s real exciting,” Crockom said. “Coach Akey does a great job. They have a good receivers coach in Luther Carr. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Despite the numerous offers it wasn’t as tough as a decision as people might think.

“I pretty much knew I wanted to go there after the visit in December. It seemed like home,” Crockom said.

Idaho finished 8-5 last year including a dramatic 43-42 win over Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl.

Crockom caught 43 passes in 2009 for the Moors for 672 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. Although receiver is his best position and he is expected to be lining up wide for Idaho, Crockom indicated that he could see time on the defensive side of the ball as well.

“They said I could also play corner or safety so you never know. I’m just ready for some Idaho football,” he said.

Crockom will be missed at Alhambra and the feeling is mutual.

“Coach Gil Ruedaflores is a great coach and he and the staff did a great job. They prepared me well,” Crockom added.

Crcokom just got back from the gym before he spoke to me.

“I want to get myself in the best shape possible.
