They came out on their first possession and drove 70 yards in eight plays that quarterback Gabriel Tapia capped with\u00a0an 18- yard run.\u00a0Montebello\u00a0stopped Whittier on fourth down on the ensuing series\u00a0and set up shop at the Cardinal\u00a043.\u00a0The\u00a0Oilers immediately\u00a0cashed in again. Joshua\u00a0Leon finished a seven play march with a six-yard run and after drawing blanks in the first half\u00a0the Oilers\u00a0were suddenly up\u00a014-0.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Zavala&#8217;s defense held again\u00a0and the\u00a0offense\u00a0put the game on ice\u00a0on the next possession.\u00a0Tapia used his arm\u00a0this time connecting with Andy Brown\u00a0on a 58-yard strike for a three score lead. Brown simply ran\u00a0right by the Whittier secondary and Tapia hit him in stride as he\u00a0raced into the end zone.<\/p>\n<p>Whittier finally\u00a0ended the drought in the fourth quarter\u00a0on a seven-yard run by Robert Sandoval.<\/p>\n<p>Tapia\u00a0rushed for 93 yards on\u00a011 carries and a touchdown and\u00a0threw for 133 yards and a score to lead Montebello.\u00a0Leon\u00a0had six carries for 47 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Brown had five receptions for 103 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Whittier\u00a0struggled most of the night offensively.
