(Carson) –\u00a0Giovani dos Santos scored twice and the LA Galaxy opened up a 3-1 lead in the first half and went on to beat Orlando City 4-2 Sunday before a sold out crowd of 27,167 at StubHub Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The game also marked the return of Landon Donovan who joined the Galaxy this past\u00a0week after\u00a0retiring after the championship game in December 2014.\u00a0Donovan entered the game in the 83rd minute and played the rest of the way.<\/p>\n

The LA Galaxy had a couple of golden opportunities 11 minutes in\u00a0but were unable to cash in. Alan Gordon\u00a0was thwarted\u00a0when defenders wrapped him up in front of the box. Also he missed on a redirection off a pass from\u00a0dos Santos.<\/p>\n

Orlando City’s Kevin Molino\u00a0broke the scoreless tie when he fired\u00a0shot by Brian Rowe in the 20th minute.\u00a0Molino scored off a rebound\u00a0on an attempt by Cyle Larin.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy got\u00a0even in the 35th minute\u00a0when Emmanuel Boateng rushed the right side and placed a perfect cross to\u00a0dos Santos who tapped it in.\u00a0Three minutes later Jelle Van Damme, on the right side found\u00a0a streaking Alan Gordon\u00a0in the middle who rammed it by Orlando City goalkeeper Joe Bendik for a 2-1 lead.<\/p>\n

Dos Santos made\u00a0it 3-1 with his second goal of the night in the 45th minute as he blasted\u00a0a penalty kick by Bendik.\u00a0The boot was set up when Gordon was knocked down in the box on a breakaway.<\/p>\n

Two minutes of additional\u00a0time were added and\u00a0LA took\u00a0a 3-1 lead into the break.<\/p>\n

In the second half the Galaxy needed to play fundamental soccer to hold off Orlando City and they were able to do just that.<\/p>\n

In the 60th minute\u00a0Robbie Keane replaced Gordon.<\/p>\n

Keane made\u00a0his presence felt in the 70th minute when\u00a0he got\u00a0behind the defense with dos Santos. Dos Santos took a perfect dish from\u00a0Sebastian Lletget, who in turn found Keane wide open and he punched it in\u00a0for the goal.<\/p>\n

In the 82nd minute Tony Rocha hit the crossbar\u00a0for Orlando above the head of LA keeper Brian Rowe.<\/p>\n

Then a minute later, the fans got to see what they came for as\u00a0Donovan, the Galaxy all-time leader in goals, entered the\u00a0match\u00a0for Raul Mendiola.<\/p>\n

Two minutes of additional time were added and Orlando City cashed in when Brek Shea\u00a0scored\u00a0to make it\u00a04-2.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy improved to 11-4-14 with the victory while Orlando\u00a0City dropped to 7-8-13.<\/p>\n
