Powell be the first receiver drafted?

Draft Day: Tuesday February 9, 2010

You might have a quarterback but does he have anybody to throw the ball to? These are your big play guys – the guys that get the ball into the end zone. A quality receiver can make even the most average quarterback look good. On the high school level some receivers also split time at running back. For instance Leonard Rhodes at Walnut accumulated over 400 yards on receptions this past season but in terms of a draft he is better suited as a fullback or running back. A.J. Powell of Charter Oak had just over 300 receiving yards but he was such a dynamic force at so many other positions that you might draft him as a receiver and then move him around.

We have listed the true receivers- guys that you would line up wide and tell the quarterback to throw them the darn ball. We have broken it down into players that are first round consideration, next level and the best of the rest.

Remember the draft is this Tuesday. It’s not too late to get a team.
