The Falcon\u2019s Devon Hemsley is talented and athletic and will be a nightmare for the Heralds to find a way to contain him. On the other side Quinn Commans is flinging it all over the field to the tune of 1,516 yards and 20 touchdowns. This one could end up a real shootout!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duarte 42 Whittier Christian 35<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northview (3-1) at Pomona (0-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When these two teams met last year in the Mid Valley Division playoffs they put the scoreboard at Covina\u2019s District Field on the verge of tilting. Pomona came out on top of that one 62-55. This year these two teams are going in different directions. The Vikings are riding a three game winning streak and the Red Devils are searching for their first win. They won\u2019t get it here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northview 37 Pomona 13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mt. View (2-2) at El Monte (2-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Vikings and the Lions begin league play with equal records against similar competition. Even their numbers offensively for points scored and defensively for points given up are really close. 16 and 27 for\u00a0Mt. View and 18 and 25 for El Monte. The Lions gain a slight edge as this one is at home but if the Vikings can control the clock and pound the ball\u00a0that will be the difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mt. View 20 El Monte 17<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rosemead (0-4) at Arroyo (3-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a\u00a0struggle\u00a0for the Panthers this year. They&#8217;ve allowed 157 points in four games\u00a0including 47 to Northview three weeks ago.\u00a0It&#8217;s not the usual stout defense that we&#8217;re used to seeing from the crew on the corner of Lower Azusa and Rosemead. The\u00a0Knights meanwhile, except for a hiccup against\u00a0Hart two weeks ago, have been\u00a0cruising along. They even managed to get a win even when they didn&#8217;t\u00a0as a tie with Covina in Zero Week was a victory when the Colts forfeited due to an ineligible player.\u00a0Last week despite suspensions, Arroyo belted Rowland 42-7. Of course\u00a0we&#8217;re continually\u00a0asked the question\u00a0will the Arroyo suspensions continue this week?\u00a0The answer is we don&#8217;t know.\u00a0But it won&#8217;t matter, Knights win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arroyo 31 Rosemead 17\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don Lugo (2-2) at Chino (3-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys have won three straight racking up numbers we haven&#8217;t seen in that part of town for awhile &#8211;\u00a050 against Baldwin Park,\u00a062 vs. Hillcrest and 51 in a rout of Los Osos. They do it with a devastating running attack\u00a0as\u00a0Andrew Almazon has racked up nearly 1000 yards on his own.\u00a0Don Lugo is no slouch.\u00a0The Conquistadores under first year HC Greg Gano picked up two\u00a0early victories before taking their lumps in the last two. They\u00a0did however hang with Northview last week before falling a TD short.\u00a0They&#8217;ll hang for awhile here as well\u00a0but in the end the ground game of Chino will be too much.\u00a0Cowboys win their fourth straight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chino 35 Don Lugo 24<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glendora (1-3)\u00a0at West Covina (2-2) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Tartans have fallen on hard times lately. After beating Kaiser in Zero Week,\u00a0they&#8217;ve lost three straight allowing an average of over 38 points per game. West Covina has bounced back after falling in\u00a0its first two, with victories over South Hills and Schurr.\u00a0Both teams want a win before heading into league play next week.\u00a0Glendora has a puncher&#8217;s chance but when it comes to punching\u00a0it&#8217;s usually the Bulldogs who\u00a0do the punching in the mouth.\u00a0WestCo runs over\u00a0the Tartans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>West Covina 27 Glendora 17\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Burbank (1-2) at Muir (2-1)<\/strong><br \/>\nLast Ten Meetings: Muir leads, 7-3<br \/>\nLast Year: Muir, 21-20<br \/>\nThe Mustangs got exposed last week. No shame in losing to La Salle, but to lose the way they did was not good. For the Bulldogs the Zero Week victory Monrovia is looking less and less impressive due to the Wildcats continued struggles. They did compete in losses to Canyon and Downey and that gives them the advantage in &#8220;The Land of Colitas&#8221; this weekend. Bank has a little bit more girth on the offensive line than it has in the past and they will need it to establish a run game. Muir is still fast but mistakes and execution did them in against La Salle. Close game\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Burbank 21 Muir 18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, September 24<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission Prep (1-2) at Sierra Canyon (5-0)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last Meeting 2015: Sierra Canyon, 48-10<\/p>\n<p>The Trailblazers are easing sophomore Johnny Hawkins into the routine, Bobby Cole is ripping it up on the ground\u2026and junior defensive end Chris Cannon (36 tackles, 8.5 sacks) is putting a smile on DC Michael Gonzaga\u2019s face\u2026In other seasons the Royals would have been in this contest but right now it looks like they are driving a long way just to get blown out. They haven\u2019t stopped the good teams and gave up 24 points to a down Viewpoint squad.
