(Montebello) \u2013 There are just too many weapons. Keppel was good. Montebello was better. Keppel made a push but Montebello pushed harder. Keppel rallied but Montebello responded. And in the end Montebello was too much for the Aztecs in a 76-61 win Friday night.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 With the win Montebello put a lock on the Almont League title improving to 8-0 while the Aztecs fell to 6-2. The Oilers are 25-1 overall and the number one ranked team by the Mid Valley.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The Oilers had three players in double figures and two that finished with nine. Andrew Torres scored inside, outside and at the line to lead Montebello with 20 points. Torres was 7of 12 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line. Torres scored 9 of the team\u2019s 24 points in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Antonio Worthy, the Oilers\u2019 6\u201911\u201d center, dominated the paint and swatted several shots away. He scored 18 points including a slam dunk in the fourth that nearly brought the house down.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Marcos Mejia was also in double figures with 10 and sank four consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter. Mejia scored 6 in the final period.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Jeremy Solis came up with a big bucket and one in the fourth and finished with 9 points and Michael Carabes added 9 as well.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Keppel scored the first seven points of the game as Timmy Wong tossed in five of the seven. But the Oilers responded with 8 straight and the momentum continued to build fromKeppel, Montebello\u00a0there.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Torres hit three baskets in the second quarter and Montebello moved out to a 22-17 halftime advantage. Montebello went on a 9-0 run to open the third as Torres continued his hot shooting. Carabes hit a pair of hoops and Daniel Flores nailed a three as the Oilers opened up a 46-30 lead entering the fourth.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Both teams picked up the pace in a wild fourth quarter. Keppel, behind the hot shooting of Wong and Justin Young, cut the Montebello lead to nine at one point but the Oilers always had an answer.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Worthy scored 10 in the final period to help the Oilers hold off Keppel\u2019s charge. The Aztecs scored 31 points in the fourth, one more point than they scored in the first three periods combined. Wong and Young accounted for 23 of the 31. But the Oilers answered with 30 of their own 30 in the fourth.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Both teams have two games left in league before the playoffs begin the following week.<\/p>\n
