The Falcons had their backs against the wall several times throughout the match, but an 18-point performance from Coltrane Powdrill along with 14 points from freshman Cole Currie, held up againast an attacking Glendale squad. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Anthony Tahmazian and David Yetenikyan, who notched 20 and 21 points respectively, highlighted the Nitros\u2019 offense.<\/p>\n<p>From the opening whistle, both teams came out aggressive and trading baskets, quickly ramping the scoreboard to 12-8 in favor of CV with 3:53 left in the first quarter. Even though the Nitros were down, they showed assurance and assertiveness, demonstrated by Tahmazian\u2019s three pointer, which he followed with a steal and an easy layup, bringing Glendale within a point, 16-15, with 1:37 left.<\/p>\n<p>The CV freshman sensation took control in the second half as Currie drowned some amazing shots beyond the arc as well off-balance lay-ups under the basket which extended the Falcon lead to 31-25 with 4:13 left in the half.<\/p>\n<p>Glendale\u00a0refused to be shut down and with seconds left Yetenikyan notched a 3-pointer to bring his team within one points, 36-35, going into the locker rooms.<\/p>\n<p>With the way both teams played, it was no surprise that the game was this close. However CV lacked a killer instinct to put away Glendale, and the Nitros continued to miss easy baskets and were\u00a0unable to take over the lead.<\/p>\n<p>The beginning of the second half shadowed the first, as quick baskets by both teams made it 48-43\u00a0CV after three minutes which included a brief lead change for Glendale.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0game then went stagnate until late it the quarter when CV\u2019s free throw was responded with Tahmazian\u2019s three-pointer which cut the Falcon lead to 49-46 going into the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Crescenta Valley showed more control in the beginning of the last quarter, going on a 7-0 run and extending their lead, 59-50, with 4:33 left, their biggest lead of the night.
