Mets win!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Joe Torosian<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe&#8217;ll see the sun come up on sunday mornin&#8217;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And watch it fade the moon away<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>I guess you know I&#8217;m givin&#8217; you a warnin&#8217;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>&#8216;Cause me and moon are itchin&#8217; to play\u2026\u201d\u2014Starbuck<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kick it!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Right off the Top:<\/strong> Some people get a zit and they freak out\u2026I get a zit, and I see an opportunity.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>I guess South Pas is playing for keeps (51-0 over Gabrielino)\u2026and wants its first Rio Hondo League title since 1977\u2026<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always amazing when someone really cares about what you think or what you believe\u2026I was asked\u2014other than being a believing Christian (probably because they knew my response would be something akin to a coach saying; <em>\u201cwe gotta protect the ball, minimize our mistakes, and play the way we\u2019re capable of playing.&#8221;<\/em>)\u2014 what motivated me when I wrote or talked about sports\u2026or in just how I lived my life.<\/p>\n<p>Flattering\u2026Especially since my column doesn\u2019t do as well as \u201cThe Peterson Principle.\u201d \u2026and my paycheck is considerably smaller that Fred Robledo\u2019s\u2026<\/p>\n<p>My answer was\/is this\u2026 I don\u2019t want to look common\u2026I don\u2019t want to look like everybody else\u2026It terrifies me\u2026I can\u2019t stand lines for theaters or amusement parks not because of the time it takes (bring a good book and that problem&#8217;s remedied) but because I have an issue with moving in one direction with a herd of people.<\/p>\n<p>Concerts are a real problem for me\u2026I like music, there are a lot of groups I like\u2026but to be with a thousand or thousands of people jumping\/singing\/dancing scares me\u2026I\u2019m fearful (for me\u2014I\u2019m not condemning anyone else) as to why I\u2019d be jumping\/singing\/dancing\u2026I\u2019m not against tattoos or body piercing for any reasons of faith, but they are so so common these days\u2026I feel getting either, a tat or piercing causes a small loss of identity\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line is I see a lot of things as attempts to coax me into doing\/thinking\/believing a certain way\u2026Efforts to assimilate me into one group\u2026So my first instinct is to trust nobody\u2026to disagree with anything and everything, no matter how wonderful something may be, until I can verify its truthfulness, I will always say no to it\u2026Or say yes, if everyone else is saying no\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Groucho: I got something here you\u2019re bound to love. I can tell you, it is all gravy after the way this season has gone.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Forty years ago tonight (10\/1\/1976)\u2026South Pasadena got a big game from Robbie Chapman in a 34-7 victory over Bell Gardens\u2026in Temple City, Rosemead quarterback Tim McNutt scored on a 70-yard run on the game\u2019s first play as the Panthers beat the Rams 14-0\u2026Alhambra went to Gahr and scored a 21-14 victory thanks to the rushing of Tony Regaldo (29-115 yards, Td) and passing of Brian Apodoca (2 Td Passes; one to Dave Fife the other to Larry Kemp)\u2026At Duarte, the Falcons rallied with two fourth quarter touchdowns to beat La Canada, 27-25. Keith Jackson scored on a 91-yard run (he also scored on an 80-yard touchdown run in the first half)\u2026and quarterback Keith Gibson scored the game winner on a 1-yard run after fullback Greg Crawford\u2019s 40-yard run set up a first and goal\u2026Crescenta Valley defeated Hoover, 49-7, thanks to the play of future San Francisco 49er Tom Holmoe. Holmoe scored on a 92-yard kickoff return and on a 40-yard run\u2026Since 1976 was a weird experimental year where the Mission Valley and Rio Hondo League meshed\u2026San Marino defeated El Monte 40-16\u2026<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third Add Apaches:<\/strong> In 1995, Arcadia began the season 5-0\u2026and went to 7-0 before being knocked off by Muir, 43-27, in Week Eight\u2026The Apaches finished the season 10-2 with a second round playoff loss to Peninsula, 43-8.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cOffering a flower\u2026Oh, doesn\u2019t that bring you back to the 60\u2019s and the Flower Children? Oh, what you don\u2019t remember the 60\u2019s?\u2026Okay\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span>\u2014Vin Scully, Friday night at At&amp;T Park on two men who ran onto the field to offer the players a flower. One was taken down by Giants\u2019 outfielder Angel Pagan<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Apaches One More time:<\/strong> In 1994, Arcadia started 5-0\u2026and went to 6-0 before losing to Muir, 27-14, in Week Seven. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs (beating Downey in the first round) where they fell to Peninsula, 17-0.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Really into this new group called &#8220;Blank State&#8221; and their single\u2026<em> \u201cHarry, that Bastard!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>The entire Muir Mustangs football team took a knee during the National Anthem at Salter Stadium last night.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Add Apaches:<\/strong> In 1970, Arcadia completed a perfect 9-0 regular season (meaning they achieved a 5-0 start) but lost in the first round of the CIF playoffs to Bishop Amat, 35-20, at Citrus College. Starring for the Lancers that night was some guy named Pat Haden (18-24-269 yards, 4Tds) and a receiver named J.K. McKay ((3 TD catches; 14, 43, 64-yards).<\/p>\n<p>I wonder whatever happened to those guys.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of 5-0 Starts: San Dimas is 5-0 for the first time since 2008 when they kicked off the season with an 8-0 record. They fell in Week Nine to Northview, 40-39. The Saints advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to Rosemead.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Really Last Add Apaches:<\/strong> In 196o, Arcadia won eight regular season games (confirmed) from Week Two thru Week Nine. On November 25th, the Apaches lost their first ever playoff game, 13-12, to Anaheim. It was dubbed \u201cThe Fog Game\u201d and it was played in the OC at La Palma Stadium\u2026What I don\u2019t know is who Arcadia played in Week One of the 1960 season (September 23) and what the outcome was. The previous three seasons they played Santa Paula and in 1961 they played San Marino\u2026I&#8217;m guessing they played Santa Paula, but I do not have a final score for this game.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026And yes, it is driving me crazy\u2026So I\u2019d appreciate a little help 0n this.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>If the Cubs lose in the first round of the playoffs\u2026could it be so traumatic that a \u201cCubs Season Matters\u201d movement would start?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a firm believer in All Seasons Matter&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Midbits (same as \u2018Tidbits\u2019)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong>\u2028Midbits:<\/strong> \u201cI saw the targeting post\u2026In Fanview\u2026We actually got a TD called back Saturday.
