Think\u2026Think real hard\u2026Can\u2019t figure it out?\u2026Ready?\u2026Scroll down\u2026<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>So now that the Mets have been Gillaspied out of the post-season\u2026My Dodger friends are asking if I\u2019m going to come home\u2026<\/p>\n<h4>Hear this:<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> All the past we leave behind with Scully\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>If I couldn\u2019t root for this team in Vin Scully\u2019s last season\u2026I certainly cannot root for them now\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This is not a prediction, but how I want the National League playoffs to go:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1.) San Francisco Giants: Because it will pain the Dodgers and their fans to no end to see this team win a fourth World Series in seven seasons.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2.) Chicago Cubs: It would be neat\u2026but I think a classic meltdown would be better. I\u2019m talking one strike away, police guarding the field, and then they get Gillaspied\u2026<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">3.) Washington Nationals: Only if it means they beat the Dodgers.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">4.) Los Angeles Dodgers: Nope.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Add Schurr:<\/strong> On this night in 1977, Tong Lee scored two touchdowns on short runs, but the Spartans fell in the fourth quarter at Katella, 18-14 on a Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been hard on the Los Angeles Rams\u2026but give them credit\u2026they are 30th in passing, 30th in rushing, 32nd in total offense, and have a 3-1 record.<\/p>\n<p>Bright side\u2026maybe they\u2019re learning how to win&#8230;Maybe?<\/p>\n<p>The last time the Rams played the Buffalo Bills in the Coliseum was December 15, 1974. It was Week 14 and the Rams won, 19-14 thanks to a 14-yard touchdown pass from James Harris to Rob Scribner, and 1-yard touchdown runs by Harris and backup quarterback Ron Jaworksi.<\/p>\n<p>Buffalo got a late touchdown on a 55-yard pass from Joe Ferguson (not the Dodger catcher) to J.D. Hill.<\/p>\n<p>It was probably the most boring game I\u2019d ever been to\u2026but that may have been because our seats were of the horseshoe variety\u2026Southside, at the open end\u2026nearly a full third of the field was blocked from us because of the Buffalo players standing on the sideline.<\/p>\n<p>Rams punter, Mike Burke subbing for injured kicker David Ray missed two extra-points.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>When I was growing up in El Monte\u2026and playing on the railroad tracks and inside the bridge that crossed over the Rio Hondo River\u2026I was told El Monte and Arroyo had a great rivalry\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But in 48 previous meetings Arroyo holds a 40-8 advantage\u2026That\u2019s not a rivalry\u2026that\u2019s a colonoscopy\u2026a colonoscopy with extreme prejudice.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>In regards to a Houston Astros minor leaguer (Lancaster Jet Hawks\u2014I think?) tweeting a woman shouldn\u2019t be announcing games for ESPN\u2026Who cares? The guy plays in the California League\u2026Who cares what he thinks\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I think Mendoza does a pretty good job\u2026she doesn\u2019t bug me the way a Bob Costas bugs me\u2026but let\u2019s be honest, she got the job because she\u2019s a woman.<\/p>\n<p>She does it well, though, so no problem.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN, on the other hand, is a cliche factory\u2026meaning there is nothing original about ESPN\u2026they will do anything, say anything, become anything, to be accepted\u2026What the Jet Hawk player should have tweeted was\u2026 \u201cESPN has no business broadcasting MLB games\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was painful to watch Buster Olney interview, Madison Bumgarner after the Mets got Gillaspied last night.<\/p>\n<p>I think a question like\u2026 \u201cWhat do you want your legacy to be?\u201d \u2026Is better suited for a Barbara Walters Special or an old Roy Firestone butt-kissing session\u2026 The only thing Olney didn\u2019t ask Bumgarner was, \u201cWhat enchants you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 5, 2004:<\/strong> On that evening West Covina defeated Charter Oak, 13-12\u2026(and ended the season CIF champs with a victory over South Hills in December)..It was also the Bulldogs last victory over the Chargers.<\/p>\n<p>CO has defeated The WC seven straight times.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted none of those seven victories occurred when WestCo was on back-to-back (2010 &amp; 2011) CIF championship runs. The Bulldogs went 26-2 during that span (losses to Covina &amp; Loyola).<\/p>\n<p>So there\u2019s the hope for Mike Maggiore &amp; Friends\u2026If you can avoid losing to Charter Oak\u2026your title chances increase significantly.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>My heart\u2019s desire for the American League playoffs, not predictions\u2026<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1.) Cleveland Indians: Because I\u2019ve always been an Indians fan.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2.) Texas Rangers: Why?\u2026Why not?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">3.) Toronto Blue Jays: I enjoy bat flips.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">4.) Boston Red Sox: Because EVERYONE is a Red Sox fan these days.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of CO\u2026on this date in 1995\u2026Charter Oak defeated Temple City 21-8 at North Field. Charger quarterback, Jeff Disney threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in the victory. Disney, a sophomore, connected twice with Matt Dzama on scoring tosses of 21 and 22-yards.<\/p>\n<p>Backup quarterback, Jeff Stubner engineered a late drive for the Rams that ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Jim Mustain. Brian Betts added the deuce.<\/p>\n<p>On the same night, Crescenta Valley beat Burroughs, 28-21\u2026and Glendale defeated Burbank, 16-7. The Bulldogs had a 7-3, halftime lead\u2026but the Nitros&#8217; James Klintworth turned two Burbank fumbles into touchdowns for the win.
