Michael Bonds threw for over 200 yards and two scores for the Golden Knights<\/p><\/div>\n

(La Canada) – St. Francis withstood a huge night by La Salle\u00a0running back Amon Milliner\u00a0and beat the\u00a0Lancers 38-28 Friday night at Friedman Field. <\/p>\n

Milliner carried the Lancers rushing for 259 yards\u00a0on 36 attempts. He scored\u00a0three touchdowns on runs of one, 42 and 44 yards giving\u00a0La Salle life throughout the contest.<\/p>\n

Jace Harrick scored on\u00a0a two-yard run with 8:29 left in the third quarter to give the Golden Knights\u00a0a 38-21 lead.\u00a0It turned out to be the clincher for St. Francis\u00a0but the Lancers had one last gasp left.\u00a0Jake Caan\u00a0from his own two-yard line connected with Donte Coxsum who broke away from the St. Francis secondary and raced all the way down to the Golden Knight ten-yard line. On the next play Caan\u00a0hit Tommy Radle\u00a0in the corner of the endzone\u00a0for the score.<\/p>\n

The Lancers were within ten\u00a0but St. Francis recovered the ensuing onside\u00a0kick\u00a0and that was all she wrote.<\/p>\n

Amon Milliner had 259 yards nd three TDs for La Salle but it wasn’t enough<\/p><\/div>\n

La Salle struck first on the opening drive\u00a0going\u00a076 yards on 12 plays behind the running attack of Milliner who finished\u00a0the drive with a one-yard run. On the\u00a0following kick off Bobby Gazmarian dropped the boot at the ten-yard line but scooped\u00a0it up and weaved his way\u00a090 yards\u00a0to tie it up.<\/p>\n

Milliner\u00a0got loose for 42 yards on the next series to again\u00a0put La Salle up by seven but that was the last time the Lancers saw the lead.\u00a0Michael Bonds\u00a0hit Greg Dulcich on an eight-yard\u00a0strike\u00a0to end a 91-yard drive to tie it at 14 at the end of one.<\/p>\n

In the second quarter\u00a0Daniel Scott caught a one-yard TD pass from Bonds late in the second quarter\u00a0to give the Golden Knights\u00a0a 21-14 halftime\u00a0advantage. In the second half\u00a0a bad snap led to short\u00a0La Salle punt that Scott caught on the run and took it in 24 yards for the score.<\/p>\n

Milliner did his thing one more time on a 44-yard touchdown jaunt to make it 28-21\u00a0but that was as close as La Salle would get.<\/p>\n

Caan\u00a0threw for 160 yards\u00a0to give Milliner some offensive support for La Salle but it wasn’t enough.<\/p>\n

Bonds completed\u00a014 of 20 for 208 yards and two scores.\u00a0Scott hauled\u00a0in five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown reception\u00a0and\u00a0the TD punt return.<\/p>\n

St. Francis\u00a0is now 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the Angelus League. La Salle is 4-2 and\u00a0 0-1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
