It was thumbs up for Steven Comstock and the Vikings in win over San Dimas<\/p><\/div>\n

(San Dimas) – Northview outscored\u00a0San Dimas\u00a028-6 in the second half and went on to beat\u00a0the Saints 49-34 Friday night\u00a0to lay claim\u00a0as the best team in the Valle Vista League.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are still two games remaining\u00a0in league but\u00a0this one was for the title.\u00a0San Dimas suffered its first loss of the season while\u00a0the Vikings improved to 7-1 and have won seven straight.<\/p>\n

The Vikes\u00a0and Saints exchanged touchdowns in the first half. The difference\u00a0was the Vikings coughed it up on a fumble and the Saints took advantage to\u00a0grab a 14-7 lead, and still led\u00a028-21 at the half.<\/p>\n

Danny Jackson scored\u00a0all four touchdowns\u00a0for San Dimas in the first half – two on TD runs and two\u00a0on scoring passes from Joey Tamayo.\u00a0Jackson’s\u00a024-yard touchdown gave San Dimas\u00a0a 14-7\u00a0lead with 7:41 left in the second quarter and then he broke off a\u00a060-yard jaunt\u00a0three minutes later that made it\u00a021-14.<\/p>\n

After Steven Comstock hit Antwaun Ayers on a seven yard touchdown\u00a0pass to tie it at 21, Jackson got loose again, as he got behind the Northview secondary and hauled in a\u00a049-yard touchdown pass\u00a0to make it 28-21 at the\u00a0half.<\/p>\n

Things looked good for\u00a0the Saints as they got the ball first in the second half.\u00a0But a personal foul cost them\u00a0on the first possession and they were stopped\u00a0on fourth down\u00a0at the Northview 39. The Vikings proceeded to go nine plays\u00a0for the score with Comstock bulling\u00a0in from five yards out\u00a0to tie it at 28.<\/p>\n

On the next series the Vikings shut down San Dimas again\u00a0forcing the Saints to punt. After the Northview got the ball back\u00a0Comstock\u00a0suffered\u00a0a cramp and had to leave the game\u00a0setting up a turning point in the game.\u00a0Nathan Amadeo\u00a0filled in for\u00a0Comstock and on his first play under center\u00a0he fired a strike down the right sideline and hit Ayers in stride\u00a0who raced 56 yards into the\u00a0end zone to give the Vikes the lead at 35-28 with just 18 seconds left in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Danny Jackson found the end zone four times for San Dimas but it wasn’t enough<\/p><\/div>\n

The Saints’\u00a0offense was suddenly\u00a0stagnant and when Comstock scored again\u00a0on a 21-yard run with 8:45 left in the fourth quarter for Northview, San Dimas’ fate was sealed.<\/p>\n

Four minutes later Kevin Thomas\u00a0blasted in\u00a0for\u00a0an eight-yard touchdown and just like that\u00a0Marcel Perez’\u00a0troops were up by three scores.<\/p>\n

San Dimas finally\u00a0ended the drought\u00a0with 2:35 left when Kai Rodriguez\u00a0scored on a 10-yard run before Northview ran out the clock.<\/p>\n

Comstock threw for\u00a0two touchdowns and ran for three.\u00a0He\u00a0passed for 306 yards and\u00a0rushed for 137. Ayers had eight catches for 160 yards and two scores.\u00a0Frankie Simental had four receptions\u00a0for 69 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

Jackson\u00a0had two receptions for 73 yards\u00a0and\u00a0pair of scores\u00a0for the Saints while also rushing for two.<\/p>\n

“They (San Dimas)\u00a0have a lot of home run hitters\u00a0and we went into halftime\u00a0and corrected a little bit of those things and we played some great defense in the second half,” said Northview Head Coach Marcel Perez.<\/p>\n

At halftime Northview quarterback Steven Comstock seemed to know what was in store.\u00a0“Well they\u00a0said it was going to be a battle and it’s a battle,” Comstock said.<\/p>\n

When the battle ended\u00a0two quarters later\u00a0it was the\u00a0Vikings that had won the war.<\/p>\n

The Saints, now firmly entrenched in second place, will travel to Baldwin Park next week\u00a0while the first place Vikings will face Wilson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
