Landon Donavan and the Galaxy couldn’t find any magic.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Carson) – The Galaxy and FC Dallas battled to a scoreless draw in the regular season finale Sunday\u00a0before 27,167 at StubHub Center.<\/p>\n

With the tie FC Dallas finished with 60 points\u00a0with a 17-8-9 to capture the Supporter’s Shield\u00a0given to the team with the best record in the MLS. FC Dallas will also have home field advantage throughout\u00a0the playoffs which start this week.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy finished at 12-6-16 overall\u00a0with a total of 52 points. They took third in the Western Conference and will host Real Salt Lake\u00a0in a playoff elimination game Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Atiba Harris had an early opportunity for Dallas FC\u00a0but his shot that beat Galaxy goalkeeper\u00a0Brian Rowe hit the post.<\/p>\n

Landon Donovan was\u00a0issued a yellow card\u00a0in the 31st minute for a tackle on Maximillano Urruti. Another yellow was\u00a0levied against Tesho Akindele for a hit on Rafa Garcia.<\/p>\n

Donovan sent\u00a0a free kick in the front of the net\u00a0late in the half but it was knocked away.<\/p>\n

Ariel Lassiter got the start for the Galaxy.<\/p><\/div>\n

In the second half in the 59th minute Donovan received a\u00a0nice pass from\u00a0Raul Mendiola but his header was just wide.<\/p>\n

Rowe made\u00a0a\u00a0nice save on a blast by\u00a0Carlos Gruezo in the 60th minute to keep it scoreless.<\/p>\n

Alan Gordon and Ema Boateng entered the match for the Galaxy in the 63rd minute but they still could not generate many chances.<\/p>\n

Baggio Husidic came on\u00a0for Garcia in the\u00a076th minute.<\/p>\n

Jeff Larentowicz\u00a0went\u00a0down with a head injury\u00a0in the 78th minute\u00a0and left the contest leaving the\u00a0Galaxy with just\u00a010 players the rest of the way. LA was already playing without Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani dos Santos who were being rested by Head Coach Bruce Arena.\u00a0Gyasi Zardes\u00a0is also out with an injury.<\/p>\n

Five minutes\u00a0of additional time were added in the\u00a0second half but neither team could score and it ended in a tie. The\u00a0Galaxy\u00a0finished with five\u00a0shots overall and just one on goal. Dallas FC had 13 total shots with two on goal.<\/p>\n

“It was important to play this game today and get on to the business of the playoffs.\u00a0I congratulate Dallas on the Supporter’s Shield,”\u00a0said Arena.\u00a0“Real Salt Lake is a good team.\u00a0It’s obviously a team we’ve seen before in\u00a0the playoffs. We expect a tough match. As always any team\u00a0you play in the playoffs is going to be ready to play.”<\/p>\n

Game time for\u00a0Wednesday’s playoff game is 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
