Ernesto “Macho” Camacho ran for two and threw for two to lead the Knights<\/p><\/div>\n

(Montebello)\u00a0–\u00a0Arroyo\u00a0rallied from an\u00a0early 14 point deficit to beat Schurr\u00a042-28 Friday night to advance to the semi finals\u00a0of the CIF\u00a0Division 12 playoffs. <\/p>\n

Down 21-20 at the half\u00a0Ernesto Camacho\u00a0capped\u00a0a seven-play 53-yard drive with 23-yard touchdown pass to\u00a0Rey Cotero to put the Knights up\u00a027-21. Schurr\u00a0answered back with a 75-yard march that Jose Rochin\u00a0finished with\u00a0an 8-yard run to\u00a0put the Spartans back on top 28-27 with 12 seconds left\u00a0in the third quarter. That was Schurr’s\u00a0last lead of the night.<\/p>\n

Arroyo\u00a0scored the last 15 points of the game to end the Spartans season.\u00a0Camacho scored on a 26-yard scamper\u00a0less than a minute later\u00a0with 11:29 left in the fourth. Later in the quarter\u00a0the Knights\u00a0drive\u00a086 yards on\u00a012 plays with\u00a0Camacho\u00a0landing in pay dirt again\u00a0on a four-yard run.<\/p>\n

Arroyo recovered\u00a0the ensuing kick\u00a0off\u00a0and that spelled the end of the\u00a0Spartans.\u00a0They did get the ball back\u00a0one more time but\u00a0ran out of clock.<\/p>\n

The Knights\u00a0got on the board first when Camacho hit Yezdan Marquez in stride for a 57-yards and a 7-0 lead.\u00a0Schurr then rebounded to score the next three times\u00a0before the first quarter was over.\u00a0Miguel\u00a0Aguero\u00a0hit Lance Babb\u00a0for a\u00a012-yard TD strike to finish a 62-yard drive.<\/p>\n

After Arroyo punted the Spartans hit on a big play\u00a0on the next possession. Aguero found Babb\u00a0wide open behind the Arroyo secondary who gathered in the pass and sprinted 87 yards for the score.\u00a0The Knights were forced to\u00a0punt again\u00a0and Schurr took advantage again. This time\u00a0Aguero did it himself with a four-yard run after a 64 -yard\u00a0drive to make it 21-7 at the end of the first quarter.<\/p>\n

The Knights\u00a0were on the verge\u00a0getting blown out but\u00a0the defense made\u00a0a couple\u00a0big stops\u00a0and the offense got going again.\u00a0 Steven Ocariz scored a three-yard\u00a0 run with 4:09 left in the second quarter. Three minutes later Arroyo needed\u00a0just three plays to get in the end zone.\u00a0Camacho hit\u00a0Devin Knight for 29 yards\u00a0down to the 14. Ocariz\u00a0hauled in a 14-yard pass from\u00a0Camacho\u00a0with just over a minute left to make\u00a0it 21-20. The extra point was missed\u00a0and it 21-20 at the break.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0Schurr took the lead late in the third quarter, Arroyo\u00a0took control.<\/p>\n

Camacho threw for\u00a0two touchdowns and ran for two. He ran\u00a0the ball 22 times for 165 yards and two scores. He threw for\u00a0287 yards and two scores.\u00a0 Ocariz had 90 yards on 15 carries. For Schurr Babb\u00a0had nine\u00a0carries on 189 yards and\u00a0two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Schurr finished\u00a08-4 overall\u00a0while Arroyo improves to 11-1\u00a0and will host Segerstrom next week in the semi finals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
