(Yorba Linda) – Jayden Webb scored four touchdowns to lead Yorba Linda to a 31-21 win over Burbank in the Division 8 CIF Final.<\/p>\n

For Burbank, it was a run no one saw coming\u2026and it was a journey no one wanted to end\u2026but midnight came for Cinderella in the form of a team that looked very similar. There wasn\u2019t a significant size differential, but it was the Mustangs offensive line that cleared the way for Webb, his 193 rushing yards, and four scores.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir offensive line did the job tonight,\u201d said Burbank HC Richard Broussard. \u201cHe (Webb) wasn\u2019t getting hit until the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Webb gashed the Bulldogs defense for runs of 11 and 17-yards on the game\u2019s opening drive. He capped it with a 4-yard scoring run aided by a \u201cBush-Push\u201d across the goal line. After the score, some contention was raised that a whistle blew as a pile closed around Webb, but the touchdown stood.<\/p>\n

With a crosswind blowing from the home sideline to the visitors the passing game suffered for both teams and punts became a roll of the dice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d planned to come out and sling it,\u201d Broussard said. \u201cIf we\u2019d known about this happening we could have prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gusts were estimated from 25 to 45-mph on the night.<\/p>\n

It was the combination of the wind and a bad punt that put Burbank in business late in the first. Reaching the Yorba Linda 14, they evened the contest when Guy Gibbs rolled left and sent the ball, through the wind, to Forest Farajado in the end zone.<\/p>\n

In the second quarter, it was the Yorba Linda offensive line keying drives that Webb finished with a pair of 2-yard runs to put the home team up 21-7.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs drew closer on Nicolas Warren\u2019s 42-yard run up the gut just before halftime.<\/p>\n

Then, in the third quarter, Burbank tied it when Gibbs went 23-yards to a wide open Drew Pendleton.<\/p>\n

Six minutes later Webb went into the end-zone on a 6-yard run and the Mustangs were back on top.<\/p>\n

Cole Magliano added an 18-yard field goal to finish the scoring for Yorba Linda as penalties and turnovers plagued the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

During one stretch the Mustangs began three consecutive possessions at the Burbank 35, 35, and 34. They were held to only a field goal but the time lost doomed the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

Asked about his team\u2019s run, a disappointed Broussard said, \u201cIt\u2019s too soon\u2026just too soon to talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n
