The Edison offense was halted when O\u2019Connor\u2019s pass was intercepted by Shaun Swayne. However, the Charger defense regained possession when Tristan Meyer fumbled the ball which was recovered by Isaiah Palmer.<\/p>\n<p>Four plays later, Carmichael scored the game\u2019s first touchdown when he took the handoff and slipped his way for the 21-yard score, giving his team the early lead.<\/p>\n<p>After exchanging punts, the Matadors put their first points on the board when Brandon Petruescu spilt the uprights on a 22-yard field goal before the first quarter ended.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers responded\u00a0midway through the second frame when O\u2019connor connected with Ej Ginnis for the 14-yard score, jumping out to a 14-3 lead with 7:31 left in the half.<\/p>\n<p>Following the touchdown, La Mirada punched back with a touchdown of their own when Meyer ended an 11 play drive with a quarterback sneak, upping the score at 14-10 with 3:45 left in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>On the ensuing possession, Edison took less than 90 seconds to drive down the field using three plays to have Carmichael cross the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the night. Fnally, just before the half ended, the Chargers added another rushing score, this time O\u2019cononor scrambled his was for six before halftime.<\/p>\n<p>At the break Edison jumped out to a 28-10 lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Matadors started the second half with the ball and gained\u00a0momentum with Nick Hernandez carrying the load but\u00a0their hopes of scoring were\u00a0stopped when Mccade Barrett intercepted Meyer\u2019s pass and returned it for a 90-yard pick six.<\/p>\n<p>The Matadors finally answered back late in the third quarter when Jeremy Clark took Meyer\u2019s pass and scored from 13-yards out. The offense tried for two, but Edison picked off another Meyer pass.<\/p>\n<p>On the ensuing kickoff, La Mirada rolled the dice and went for an onside kick which was recovered by the Matadors on the Edison 41. Three plays later Clark and Meyer hooked up again for the touchdown. After the two-point conversion was successful, La Mirada was down 34-24 with 3:16 left in the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>The Charger offense tried to return the favor with a touchdown of their own but settled for a 30-yard field goal made by Jack Morrell.<\/p>\n<p>The Matadors drove\u00a0down the field on their next possession but they were stuffed on a fourth and goal, giving the ball back to the Edison.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers put the game away when O\u2019Connor connected with David Atencio who weaved his way through the La Mirada defense for an 88-yard catch and run.
