I\u2019m stepping up as a father and husband.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Family is an important aspect for White, which may sound clich\u00e9, but it is what drives him everyday. And with the recent birth of his daughter, Olivia Grace Le White, and his three-year-old son Anthony II at home, he and his wife, San, felt it was time for this move.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_56922\" style=\"width: 358px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-56922\" class=\"size-full wp-image-56922\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam.jpg\" alt=\"The White family\" width=\"348\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam.jpg 348w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam-70x65.jpg 70w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam-321x300.jpg 321w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/AnthonyWhiteFam-150x140.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-56922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The White family<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAnyone that knows where I came from to where I am now, knows how much family and being a father and husband mean to me,\u201d White explained. \u201cThey know why and will understand my decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But it is the family atmosphere that White sought to and successfully created at Buena Park that also made it easy for him to walk away after seven highly successful seasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing to Buena Park with no assistant coaches and being the youngest and only African-American head coach in Orange County, creating a family atmosphere was the main goal for me,\u201d said White.<\/p>\n<p>White has stressed that it is only to have more time to spend with his family and friends, and that it wasn\u2019t any other external or internal factors, that led to his decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had great support from administration, teachers and parents and we sent over 40 kids on scholarships to college,\u201d White said.\u201d We have gone from in the 12,000s nationally to the 500s, and from the 900s statewide to the 50s, from the bottom 10 in Orange County to the top 10.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>White is clearly leaving the Coyotes in a good position, with four-straight CIF Playoffs appearances (overall six out of seven during White\u2019s tenure) and a new state-of-the-art stadium and facilities on campus slated to complete construction by 2019.<\/p>\n<p>BP also won its first Freeway League title in 25 years thanks to a pivotal 27-13 win over La Habra in week nine. For the league crown and accomplishments of the football program as a whole, White and the team was recently honored by the Buena Park city council and given the key to the city.<\/p>\n<p>All of the accomplishments listed directly above were goals for White when he took over before the 2010 season, but there was another main goal for the father of two.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA CIF championship would\u2019ve been nice,\u201d White quipped. \u201cBut I never coach to put rings on fingers or banners in a gym.\u00a0 I coach to make better fathers and husbands. I feel like I became a better father and husband coaching here at Buena Park and that I accomplished that mission with the student athletes as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Tangent-Dreams-School-Football-Novel\/dp\/0692588175?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1461875543&amp;ref_=tmm_pap_swatch_0&amp;sr=1-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-56836 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TDChristmas1.jpg\" alt=\"tdchristmas1\" width=\"352\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TDChristmas1.jpg 588w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TDChristmas1-70x43.jpg 70w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TDChristmas1-400x243.jpg 400w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TDChristmas1-150x91.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><\/a>White hasn\u2019t ruled out coaching again in the future, but doesn\u2019t have a set plan for getting back into the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now I am just going to focus on my family,\u201d White said. \u201cI will still be teaching at the school. But down the line I feel whether it be local politics, whether it be college coaching, whether it be high school coaching, I\u2019ll be back at it again and it will be down one of those paths.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite rumors of other offers, he allows and doesn\u2019t dwell on this message board chatter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are going to write stuff no matter what,\u201d White said. \u201cPeople have always had an opinion about me no matter who I really am or what I was really capable of. Every year there have been opportunities for me at the collegiate or high school level. But at this time I feel like the best position for me is to continue to be the best father and husband that I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>White finishes with an overall record of 59-22 with the Coyotes, including back-to-back CIF semifinals appearances in 2014 and 2015, and steps down as the winningest coach in Buena Park High School history.
