Gore currently ranks eighth all time and another 1,000 yard season in 2017 would place him fourth behind Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders.<\/p>\n

4.) On this day in 1972\u00a0the \u201cImmaculate Reception\u201d gives the Pittsburgh Steelers an improbable\u00a013-7 win over the Oakland Raiders in the AFC Divisional Playoff\u00a0game. With 30 seconds left and the Steelers down 7-6, Franco Harris caught a pass from Terry Bradshaw\u00a0that was intended for Johnny \u201cFrenchy\u201d Fuqua. The pass bounced off the hands of Raiders\u2019 safety\u00a0Jack Tatum\u00a0and was scooped up by Harris who ran for the game winning touchdown. There has been a controversy ever since because\u00a0people contend that the ball\u00a0 hit either Fuqua or the ground\u00a0either of which would have resulted in an incomplete\u00a0pass by the rules at the time.\u00a0The officials ruled touchdown.<\/p>\n

5.) Former San Dimas Saint standout Theo Darlington is 24 today.<\/p>\n

6.) On this day in 1951, Dumont paid $75,000 to televise the first coast-to-coast football game as the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cleveland Browns 24-17 in the NFL Championship game. (Note: Tim Peterson covered this for Mid Valley Sports)<\/p>\n
