All joking aside, hockey is the only thing making the Winter Olympics, barely, and I mean barely, tolerable.<\/p>\n

However, aren\u2019t the headlines \u201cU.S. Stuns Canada!\u201d a bit of a reach?<\/p>\n

First question of the day goes to Montebello football HC Pete Gonzalez: Why isn\u2019t Antonio Worthy playing Oiler football?<\/p>\n

I wonder if Mid Valley staffers Bad News Barker and Tim Peterson\u2019s sudden interest in Montebello basketball has anything to do with its proximity to Rio\u2019s Pizza?<\/p>\n

On Friday we talked about the effect re-leaguing has had on teams in the Montview, Valle Vista, and Hybrid (Hacienda\/Miramonte\/San Antonio) Leagues…but its also had an effect on others as well.<\/p>\n

El Monte football HC Joel Sanchez said he\u2019s lost three teams (Gladstone, Baldwin Park, & Rowland) from his schedule because of the changes.<\/p>\n

…And no West El Monte Poly is not an option.<\/p>\n

Riddle Me This Football Fan: Who has worked for Sean Diaz, Rich Enright, Bill Maloney, Wardell Crutchfield Jr., Steve Garrison, Mike Mooney, and D.R. Moreland?<\/p>\n

According to insiders at Muir the next \u201cIT\u201d guy could possibly be junior Kevon Seymour. He plays both spots in the secondary, quarterback, wide receiver, and running back. Super talent.<\/p>\n

The story goes in practice last year Stang assistant Antyone Sims had Seymour, then only a sophomore, line up across linebacker\/hitman Dennis Vaughn. Vaughn proceeds to knock Seymour horizontal, four feet off the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst,\u201d Sims says walking over to Seymour. \u201cWelcome to Varsity. Second, you’ll never be hit that hard again in any of our games. So there’s no need to be scared of anyone. Third, get your butt back in there cuzz you’re going again.”<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been slammed around quite a bit in my day, but the most physically manhandled I\u2019ve ever been, other than by a Monrovia Police Captain on a Sunday night back in the 1980\u2019s, was last year when I worked the Bonita sideline during the Smudgepot game.<\/p>\n

Of course it was all unintentional, but still those were some big dudes. It was also the night I got an up close look at Bearcat Bad Dude Casey Horine. He\u2019s coming back this fall…Go see him play, you won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n

Eric Gagn\u00e9, who returns to the Dodgers for the first time since playing eight seasons in Los Angeles from 1999-2006, will wear his familiar No. 38, after reliever Ramon Troncoso agreed to switch to No. 67 for the Cactus League season.<\/p>\n

Its a nice gesture by Troncoso, but then again he\u2019s probably going get it back when the season opens in Pittsburgh on April 5th.<\/p>\n

Gagn\u00e9 stands a better chance at hosting The Mid Valley Sports Show this spring than landing in the bullpen mix at Chavez Ravine.<\/p>\n

Have the Detroit Lions ever drafted outside of the top ten? Ever? It seems like they bought property inside of the top five years ago and have refused to give it up.<\/p>\n

I think they\u2019re due to draft a wide receiver.<\/p>\n
