(Carson) – The Galaxy gave up two goals in the second half\u00a0and couldn’t recover in a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas Saturday in the MLS opener before\u00a023,554 at StubHub Center.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy had an opportunity just 30 seconds in but Romain Alessandrini’s\u00a0shot attempt flew high over the net.<\/p>\n

Both teams were\u00a0physical but the referees let\u00a0them play.\u00a0Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe\u00a0made a couple big saves in the first half.\u00a0One came four minutes in to halt an FC Dallas\u00a0chance.\u00a0Jelle Van Damme made a nice\u00a0kick save in the 33rd minute to stop Michael Barrios in front of the net.<\/p>\n

The first half ended scoreless.<\/p>\n

Maximilliano Urruti beat Rowe for distance\u00a0on the right side in the\u00a047th minute to put FC Dallas up 1-0. Dave Romney\u00a0was\u00a0brought down in the box\u00a0five minutes later\u00a0to give the Galaxy\u00a0a penalty kick.\u00a0Giovani dos Santos took full\u00a0advantage as he punched one by Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz in the 52nd minute to even things at one.<\/p>\n

Dos Santos nearly put LA up ten minutes later\u00a0as he rifled\u00a0a shot from long distance but Seitz was there\u00a0to make\u00a0the save.<\/p>\n

In the 69th minute Dallas FC grabbed\u00a0the lead for good\u00a0when Kellyn Acosta turned on one\u00a0and fired it by Rowe in the left corner.<\/p>\n

Seitz was working hard to keep the Galaxy at bay making two nice consecutive saves\u00a0in the 72nd minute to thwart a Galaxy chance.<\/p>\n

FC\u00a0Dallas held\u00a0on to win 2-1.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy were playing without both Robbie Rogers, Ashley Cole and Gyasi Zardes due to injury.<\/p>\n

“I thought it was a game we shouldn’t lose. I thought it was a game we played well enough to get points out of the game. If you look at the first half we were sloppy at times but we had some good extended possession,” said Galaxy Coach\u00a0Curt Onalfo. “We defended well for the most\u00a0part. We were a little disjointed\u00a0on a couple of players but that’s normal for this time of the season. So I’m disappointed from that stand point\u00a0that we didn’t get any points out of the game but for me\u00a0it’s a matter of getting better each day. We faced a very very good FC Dallas team.”<\/p>\n

Next up for the Galaxy is a home game next Sunday against Portland.<\/p>\n
