(Glendora)-\u00a0Adrian Tovalin belted three home runs and had nine RBI to lead Azusa\u00a0Pacific to a 16-3 rout of Fresno Pacific Friday night\u00a0in the\u00a0second game of a\u00a0doubleheader. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Pablo O’Connor hit two home runs\u00a0as well giving the Cougars five for the game.\u00a0O’Connor drove in five runs.\u00a0Dillon Miyashiro got the victory throwing a\u00a0complete game and allowing just three runs. He scattered\u00a0seven hits, walked one and struck out\u00a0four.<\/p>\n

Tovalin\u00a0got the Cougars\u00a0started in the first inning\u00a0by hammering a grand slam home run.\u00a0Josh Acosta started the game for Fresno Pacific\u00a0but left with an injury\u00a0after walking lead off hitter Mychael Goudreau.\u00a0Carson Schellenberg came on and walked\u00a0O’Connor and Justin Gomez.\u00a0Tovalin then set the tone for the evening as he\u00a0delivered the bomb to right center for a 4-0\u00a0lead.<\/p>\n

The Cougars\u00a0added another run in the\u00a0first\u00a0when Michael Staudinger doubled and\u00a0scored on a ground ball by Nick Estrella.<\/p>\n

Fresno Pacific\u00a0scored twice in the\u00a0in the second inning on key doubles by Robert\u00a0Steves\u00a0and McKay France.\u00a0But Tovalin\u00a0did more damage in the bottom of the second\u00a0with a three run shot\u00a0to plate\u00a0Goudreau\u00a0and O’Connor who had both walked.<\/p>\n

Azusa Pacific blew it wide open in the\u00a0fifth when\u00a0Cam Bennett singled, Goudreau drew another walk and\u00a0O’Connor powered a three-run home run to right field.\u00a0Brian Magana\u00a0doubled and Tovalin launched his third of the game-a two run blast to left field.\u00a0Just like that it was 13-3.<\/p>\n

O’Connor’s two- run dinger in the sixth made it 16-3.<\/p>\n

The Cougars had 15 hits overall led by Tovalin who had four\u00a0and O’Connor who had three.\u00a0Lead off hitter\u00a0Goudreau\u00a0reached\u00a0base four times, scored four runs and had two hits.<\/p>\n

Fresno Pacific\u00a0used four pitchers\u00a0but were unable to stop the Cougars onslaught.<\/p>\n

APU had\u00a0a\u00a013 game winning streak snapped in the first\u00a0game in a 9-8 loss. The Cougars are 14-2 overall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
