Right off the Top:<\/strong> Gonzaga 77, North Carolina 70\u2026You heard it here first.

I\u2019m all against the Dodgers\u2026I hope they go 0-162 this season\u2026Which means I\u2019ll be rooting for the Giants when they play them\u2026But, even non-Dodger fans had to laugh along with Dodgers fans when the Giants big ticket closer Mark Melancon swallowed the jalapeno\u2014blew the save\u2014against the Diamondbacks in his first outing for the club.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d love to have seen the face of Dave \u201cThe Obnoxious Giants Fan\u201d Nordel when this happened\u2026<\/p>\n

Off the top of my head, I\u2019ve got Don Lou Farrar at Charter Oak and Jim \u201cHis Arroyo Baldness\u201d Singiser of Arroyo as the longest tenured coaches at their current schools\u2026We know Farrar arrived at the end of the Jurassic Period and Singiser a millennium later, but who else has been around\u2014at the same school\u2014as long?<\/p>\n

I did a quick add up\u2014and I might have missed a few things, regarding changes, because I went dark after the Super Bowl\u2014and this is what I came up with.<\/p>\n

As of 2017:
\n15-Jim Singiser (Arroyo), Greg Marshall (Gahr)
\n9-Harold Sanin (Gabrielino), Pete Gonzalez (Montebello)
\n8-Jack Williams (Downey), Marcel Perez (Northview), Matt Howard (Paramount)

Just because a game ends, 77-76 it does not mean it was a good game. I believe the North Carolina-Oregon Final Four match might have been the hardest ever to watch.<\/p>\n

Just brutal basketball, the sort of ball you expect to see in the NBA.

Last Add Coaches: On Friday, March 31, I went to the funeral service for former El Monte\/Arroyo teacher\/administrator Jim White.<\/p>\n

I had him for a couple of classes when I was in school, and he used to call me \u201cDouble Ugly\u201d\u2026so we were tight.<\/p>\n

Back in 2003, we were catching up during an El Monte-Gabrielino game. The Lions were struggling\u2014big time\u2014and I asked him if he still got upset when his school lost.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe,\u201d he said\u2014mercifully forgoing Double Ugly. \u201cDo you know how much bad football I\u2019ve seen over the years?\u201d<\/p>\n

We laughed, and he told me that he would never hire a walk-on to be a long-term football coach. Then he said something I never forgot; \u201cYou\u2019re going to see changes in football over the next ten years that you\u2019re not going to recognize.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described\u2014not going into transfers\u2014what we are seeing in the coaching realm right now. Chaos, coaches coming and going, and no stability.<\/p>\n

I’m not much of a “progressive”…Except when it comes to the archaic foul-out rule in college basketball…New wine needs new wineskins…It’s bad enough we only get to see most of these college players for one season, but then they get their minutes cut by this five-foul limit…there are other ways to work around this and keep the talent on the court.<\/p>\n
