It doesn’t matter if Joshua\u00a0Knight accepted the position or not (I don’t think he did), but what does matter is that El Monte\u00a0still doesn’t have a football coach.<\/p>\n

It would have been a nice hire. Anytime\u00a0you\u00a0can hire a coach from a consistently\u00a0winning program\u00a0like Arroyo it’s a good hire.\u00a0But he wasn’t hired\u00a0and you have to wonder where do the Lions go from here?\u00a0Latest conjecture has them waiting until at least\u00a0May.\u00a0Maybe they’ll present a name\u00a0at the next board meeting.<\/p>\n

Of course El Monte isn’t the only team in the MVL without a coach. Rosemead and\u00a0Marshall\u00a0are still looking too. Marshall\u00a0can just plug somebody in. I don’t think anybody is going to notice.\u00a0I mean seriously when was the last time Marshall was relevant?\u00a0Is Tip Sanders available?\u00a0But Rosemead is a different story.<\/p>\n

The Panthers 2-8 record last year was shocking.\u00a0Rosemead doesn’t go 2-8.\u00a0This may have flown under the radar but Rosemead lost to Marshall last year 23-8.\u00a0I had to double check\u00a0myself just to make sure that was correct. 2016 was the second worst season in Rosemead history.\u00a0The Panthers finished\u00a01-9 in 1998\u00a0which was the only season in which Rosemead\u00a0had a worse record than last year. I welcome any corrections.<\/p>\n

Whether\u00a0Matt Koffler, Larry Hatley\u00a0or Marc\u00a0Paramo was at the helm,\u00a0the Panthers were always competitive –\u00a0a very tough out in the MVL. Last year you\u00a0couldn’t say that. With Paramo stepping down and the program in flux this is going to be a key hire.\u00a0Will Rosemead continue\u00a0to dwell in the bottom half of the MVL or will they rise up and contend for the\u00a0league crown like the Rosemead we used to know? \u00a0The next coach\u00a0will be instrumental in which way\u00a0the program goes.<\/p>\n

Speaking of El Monte, and I was earlier, former\u00a0Lion OC Brian Tabatabai, who was at San Dimas last year,\u00a0is taking the year off. “We just moved\u00a0and my wife and son will be changing\u00a0work and school so I need to be home more.\u00a0I’ll be back after this year,”\u00a0Tabatabai said.<\/p>\n

I heard\u00a0some interesting names being\u00a0thrown around for\u00a0the\u00a0Los Altos job but there’s nothing new to report.\u00a0They are waiting for board approval.\u00a0A local coach may\u00a0have said it best recently when he\u00a0sent me a message on Twitter. “I’ve been hearing that for a month now,” he said. Yeah, so have I.<\/p>\n

At a school like Los Altos,\u00a0you want to get it right. Especially\u00a0when the new head coach will be\u00a0attempting to fill the shoes of Dale Ziola, a coach who led the Conquerors to the CIF championship game\u00a0twice during his\u00a0six year run. And I could understand\u00a0if they were still reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, etc.\u00a0But if they do have a name, as I’ve been told, doesn’t it take like 15 minutes to either approve or disapprove\u00a0the\u00a0hire? I\u00a0wonder if they’re still in the middle of the process?<\/p>\n

Arroyo is out throwing in April already.\u00a0Aren’t they always? They have tossed it around the first two Saturdays in April and they have a four-way throw scheduled this Saturday with South El Monte, Bell Gardens, and\u00a0LA Jordan.\u00a0Yes\u00a0Chris McMillan is still the OC.\u00a0No, he’s not going to El Monte.<\/p>\n

Have you noticed all of the local talent that\u00a0has been migrating to Azusa Pacific lately?\u00a0With the jump to Division 2 and the recent success of the program\u00a0it’s become an attractive landing spot\u00a0for players right here in their own back yard.\u00a0Los Altos’ David Jimenez\u00a0was just the latest to join the Cougars.\u00a0Andrew Elffers (Maranatha) , Kurt Scoby (Monrovia), Chris Caraveo (Alhambra), Chris Solomon (West Covina) , Anthony Craft (Monrovia), Jake Payton (San Dimas) and\u00a0Conrado Simpson (Rosemead) have all found their way to APU in the past couple of years.<\/p>\n

Can we please just end all of the chatter now about\u00a0who\u00a0is the\u00a0MVP\u00a0in the NBA this year. Enough of James Harden, no more talk about Kawhi Leonard\u00a0and no it’s not LeBron James.\u00a0Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double this year.\u00a0He has 42 triple-doubles for the year and surpassed Oscar Robertson last Sunday for the most in one season.\u00a0Again, he averaged a triple-double! Let that sink in for a minute. If it’s not Westbrook\u00a0then they should abolish the award.<\/p>\n

**<\/p>\n

The Clippers have won six straight, ok.\u00a0But why have the Lakers won five straight?\u00a0They can’t even tank right.<\/p>\n
