(Carson) – The Galaxy had chances early, late and often but\u00a0could never break through in a 0-0 tie\u00a0with the Philadelphia Union Saturday night before 25,008 at StubHub Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I thought we thoroughly outplayed the opponent. We\u00a0possessed the ball well, moved the ball well and created plenty of goal scoring chances,”\u00a0said Galaxy coach Curt Onalfo.\u00a0“If one of those goes in early it’s a totally different game.”<\/p>\n

The Galaxy were on the attack early.\u00a0Romain Alessandrini and\u00a0Giovani dos Santos both had\u00a0chances in the first four minutes\u00a0but were off the mark.<\/p>\n

In the 21st minute LA’s Joao Pedro\u00a0blasted\u00a0one from\u00a0distance that ricocheted off both posts before bouncing out. Philadelphia goal keeper Andre Blake made a great save on\u00a0a\u00a0rush by Emmanuel Boateng in the 32nd minute.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy continued to press the action as Pedro got\u00a0off another\u00a0shot in the 38th minute but it sailed\u00a0high over the net.<\/p>\n

Jelle Van Damme\u00a0got called for a yellow card in the 45th minute.\u00a0One minute of additional time added but the teams went into the break scoreless.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy came out buzzing again in the second half.\u00a0Jermaine\u00a0Jones had a golden opportunity in front of the net\u00a0off of a pass from dos Santos but his header\u00a0was high over the crossbar in the 55th minute.<\/p>\n

Five minutes later\u00a0a shot right in front left\u00a0Blake sprawling\u00a0but the ball was\u00a0knocked away.<\/p>\n

Boateng got\u00a0off a boot in the 62nd minute but Blake was\u00a0again there to make the grab.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy did\u00a0everything except score\u00a0in the second half.<\/p>\n

The Union\u00a0had a couple\u00a0chances of their own later in the half including a blast by Haris\u00a0Medunjanin that was\u00a0knocked away by Brian Rowe.<\/p>\n

Jack McInerney made his Galaxy debut\u00a0substituting for Boateng in the 78th minute.<\/p>\n

Three minutes of additional time were added to the second half but neither team could break through.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a very\u00a0frustrating difficult start for us. We’ve worked very very hard. It’s not been for a lack of effort.\u00a0The results haven’t gone the way we\u00a0would have liked them to go,”\u00a0Onalfo said. “The guys put in a great\u00a0effort and they fought all they way through.”<\/p>\n

The Galaxy outshot the Philadelphia\u00a013-8 overall but weren’t able to take advantage.<\/p>\n

It was the second straight game that LA has been held scoreless and\u00a0the third game this season that the Galaxy has been shut out.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy are n0w 2-5-1 with the draw while the Union remained\u00a0winless at 0-4-4.<\/p>\n

Next up for the Galaxy is a home game next Saturday night\u00a0against Chicago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
