Jesse Ceniceros is the new Head Coach at El Monte<\/p><\/div>\n

(El Monte) – Former Chino head coach Jesse Ceniceros has agreed to\u00a0become the new\u00a0head coach at El Monte Ceniceros\u00a0confirmed Friday.<\/p>\n

Ceniceros\u00a0stepped down at Chino\u00a0last week after two years at the helm.\u00a0Prior to Chino he was the head coach at Norwalk.\u00a0Ceniceros had an overall record\u00a0of 13-10 at Chino and guided the Cowboys to the playoffs in both seasons.<\/p>\n

Ceniceros takes over for Eric MacIntyre\u00a0who resigned after just one year.<\/p>\n

Ceniceros\u00a0is known for running the\u00a0double wing offense which he plans to continue at El Monte.\u00a0Already in May, he\u00a0will now quickly begin to assemble his staff\u00a0and get his players ready for spring.<\/p>\n

The hire may have surprised\u00a0some people\u00a0but the most surprised\u00a0person of all may have been Ceniceros himself.<\/p>\n

“If you would have told me last Friday that I would be the next coach at El Monte\u00a0I would have said ‘your crazy,’ Ceniceros said. “I was planning on taking a year off to decide\u00a0what I wanted to do.\u00a0I didn’t resign\u00a0at Chino to take the job at El Monte.\u00a0I had no idea.”<\/p>\n

Ceniceros\u00a0said it started with a phone call\u00a0from an area coach asking him if there were any openings on\u00a0the Chino staff.\u00a0“I told him\u00a0‘yeah the head coach job is open. I just resigned.”<\/p>\n

That led to\u00a0that coach putting\u00a0Ceniceros in touch with the AD at El Monte and the eventual\u00a0hire.<\/p>\n

“They showed me around the campus and\u00a0then we talked and they offered it to me.\u00a0I was honored that they wanted me to be their head coach,” Ceniceros said. “It just felt right.\u00a0I wasn’t aware of anything that had gone\u00a0on at El Monte\u00a0previously.\u00a0Nothing.\u00a0It was totally unexpected.\u00a0But again it just felt right.”<\/p>\n
