(Covina) – Raeshawn\u00a0Roland of Arcadia hauled in an 18-yard touchdown pass from\u00a0Monrovia’s\u00a0Richie Schroeder with just 43 seconds left to give the North\u00a0a 22-18 win over the South Saturday night in the SGV All-Star game at Covina District Field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A pedestrian\u00a0game turned into a barn burner in the fourth quarter as the lead exchanged hands\u00a0four times. The South was down 7-6 after three but grabbed the lead early in the fourth when\u00a0Los Altos’ Andrew Manuele scored on a three-yard run to make it 12-7. The two point conversion attempt failed.<\/p>\n

The North responded\u00a0a\u00a0 little over two minutes later\u00a0when Muir’s Elijah Blades,\u00a0who is headed to Nebraska\u00a0this fall,\u00a0caught his second touchdown pass of the night\u00a0– a 40 yard strike from Schroeder\u00a0as he simply outran the South secondary\u00a0into the endzone.<\/p>\n

The South\u00a0regained the advantage with 2:36 left\u00a0when Jordan Thomas of Norwalk plowed in from the\u00a0two yard line for an 18-15 lead. It was Thomas’ second touchdown of the evening.\u00a0Again the\u00a0two point attempt went awry.<\/p>\n

The North then\u00a0marched quickly down the field where Roland came up with the game winner.<\/p>\n

Blades got the North on the board in the first quarter\u00a0when he again beat the South defense\u00a0running under a 40-yard bomb by Schroeder\u00a0with 1:20 left in the quarter for a 7-0 advantage.\u00a0Both teams had\u00a0trouble finding their footing\u00a0as\u00a0miscues and\u00a0turnovers continually halted drives.\u00a0The North took the seven point lead into the half.<\/p>\n

The South cut the lead to 7-6 with 6:49 left in the third quarter on a 30-yard touchdown\u00a0run by Thomas.\u00a0It stayed that way until the fourth quarter fireworks began.<\/p>\n

Santa Fe’s Chris Ramsay threw for 142 yards for the South but was hurt by two interceptions – both by Ahmir Davis of Muir\u00a0for the North.<\/p>\n

Raylind Butler\u00a0from Norwalk had five receptions for 66 yards to help the South passing attack.<\/p>\n

Blades\u00a0finished\u00a0with three catches for 83 yards and the two scores. Schroeder threw three touchdown passes\u00a0and totaled 171 yards overall.<\/p>\n
