(Duarte) \u2013 La Canada\u2019s Lauren O\u2019Leary and Lauren Cox combined to pitch a masterful gem and Anna Edwards went two for three with a homer-run to lead the Lady Spartans over Schurr, 9-0.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Leary and Cox each struck out seven Schurr batters and each scattered a hit over seven innings.\u00a0 The pitchers combined to shut-out all four opponents they faced in the Duarte Tournament to become the only team to not allow a run.<\/p>\n
Edwards scored three runs and had four RBI\u2019s on the evening as La Canada completely dominated Schurr in all aspects of the game.<\/p>\n
Starting Schurr pitcher Cynthia Martinez tried early on to keep the ball away from Edwards in the first that led to a walk and an eventual run as she stole second and came home on two throwing errors.<\/p>\n
The game stayed close until the fifth inning when Megan Martin singled and stole second.\u00a0 With one out, Edwards singled in Martin to give La Canada a 4-0 lead.\u00a0 Catcher Catherine Horner would triple to score Edwards and would later score on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n
The punctuation mark for La Canada came in the sixth inning when Edwards delivered a three-run homer with one out.<\/p>\n
La Canada finished the tournament by outscoring their opponents 30-0.\u00a0 Cox finished the tournament 2-0 with 39 strikeouts in 15 innings and O\u2019Leary went 2-0 with 20 strikeouts in nine innings.<\/p>\n
Edwards concluded a stellar tournament when she finished 10 for 12 with three homer-runs and 13 RBI\u2019s.<\/p>\n
