Thus my heart is not into March Madness this year, but with that being said, here’s my fearless Final Four picks: East = West Virgnina (Kentucky is showing more vulnerability). South = Villanova (not totally sold on Duke). Midwest = Kansas (arguably the toughest region, but the ‘hawks have proven to me over the past couple of years that they are for real). West = Syracuse (I personally don’t see a real upset here although Kansas State wouldn’t be a shock – – – – and neither would BYU be a shock to me!). There they are! Have at it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Schurr wide receivers coach Mike Vasquez informed me Spartan quarterback Aaron Cantu excelled at the recent Scout\/Badger 7on7 Tourney in Vegas. Scout.Com lead writer Brandon Huffman said Cantu had an excellent weekend and did well going through his progressions.<\/p>\n

In an email to Vasquez, Huffman said: \u201cReally was impressed with Aaron’s (Cantu) arm.\u00a0 He can play at the next level, no doubt in me.\u201d<\/p>\n

I got a text last night saying St. Francis was getting a new football HC… The source was certain, and said the Star-Trib didn\u2019t have it yet… And the reason they didn\u2019t and no one else did was because it was St. Francis High School in northern California…<\/p>\n

San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva confirmed the Mats schedule this fall: Zero Week: Muir. Week One: South Pasadena. Week Two: Burbank. Week Three; Contreras. Week Four: Rosemead. Week Five: Bye.<\/p>\n

Other than Contreras, I love the schedule. The Rosemead match will be the first between the schools since the season opener in 1981.<\/p>\n

The last time Muir and SG met was also in 1981, but that was at the end of the Mats brief five year run in the Pacific League (From 1972-76 San Gabriel was in the Mission Valley. From 1982 thru 1991 the Foothill).<\/p>\n

The Mustangs won 39-0. In 1980 the Mustangs won 58-6, 1979- 28-7, 1978- 18-0, and 1977- 27-15.<\/p>\n

In tracing things back through 1960, Muir has not lost to San Gabriel.<\/p>\n
