(Photo courtesy of Dale Domingo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Tom Hendrickson<\/p>\n<p>(Glendale)\u2014Max Davila\u2019s 18-yard touchdown pass to Frankie Contreras with 32-seconds remaining gave the Arcadia Apaches a 22-16 victory over the Crescenta Valley Falcons on Thursday night at Moyse Stadium on the campus of Glendale High School.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The key to the game-winner was Davila\u2019s conversion of a fourth and 16 from the Apaches 15. Alex Kelliher managed to get free behind the Falcons secondary and hauled in Davila\u2019s pass for a 54-yard gain before being dragged down.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams traded punches from the start of the fourth quarter. After a 7-7 tie through the first three quarters, CV jumped to a 13-7 lead on Angel Ochoa\u2019s 48-yard halfback option pass to Jordan Nelson with 11:51 left in the game. A bad snap on the extra-point kept the point difference at six.<\/p>\n<p>The Apaches answered three minutes later when Davila raced 54-yards to the CV one. On the next play, Davila found paydirt on a sneak. Randy Ludwig added the point after and Arcadia led, 14-13 with 10:34 to play.<\/p>\n<p>After trading possessions, the Falcons regained the lead when Chris Wood capped a 12-play drive with a 26-yard field goal with just 1:49 on the game clock to set up Davila&#8217;s heroics.<\/p>\n<p>The victory was Arcadia\u2019s fifth straight and improved its record to 7-3. Crescenta Valley fell to 8-2. But the Apaches secured second place with a 6-1 Pacific League record.
