Bryce Young points the way to a Cathedral victory<\/p><\/div>\n

(La Canada) – Cathedral broke open a tie at halftime with two scores in the fourth quarter and went on to beat St. Francis 28-16 Friday night to win the Angelus League at Friedman Field.<\/p>\n

Big plays carried the night for the Phantoms as they scored on touchdowns of 47, 57 and 21 yards. Leading 14-10 in the fourth quarter Bryce Young hit Jabari Kindle on a swing pass and Kindle did the rest racing through the St. Francis secondary for a 57-yard score and a 21-10 lead.<\/p>\n

Three minutes later Darius Perrantes scored on a six-yard run to cap a 75-yard St. Francis drive to cut the lead to 21-16.<\/p>\n

However Cathedral put it away four minutes later when Young threw his second touchdown of the night – this one a 21-yarder to Cory Payne in the corner of the endzone with 4;57 left.<\/p>\n

The Golden Knights had one last possession but they were halted on fourth down on the 35-yard line with just over two minutes left.<\/p>\n

Cathedral scored first on its opening possession when Omari Garry busted off a 47-yard touchdown run right up the gut. The Golden Knights tied it later in the first on an 11-yard scoring toss from Perrantes to Andrew Monarrez.<\/p>\n

Each team turned the ball over in the second quarter, Cathedral on a fumble and St. Francis on a pick and the score was still tied at seven at the half.<\/p>\n

Tylor Morrison,all 6-2, 240 pounds of him, pounded it in from the one -yard line to finish an 83-yard Phantom drive early in the third to give Cathedral the lead for good.<\/p>\n

The Phantoms kept the St. Francis running game in check.<\/p><\/div>\n

St. Francis countered with a 32-yard field goal by Niko Boschetti late in the third quarter. Cathedral then put it away with two scores in the final quarter.<\/p>\n

Y0ung finished with 275 yards passing and the two touchdowns for Cathedral. Josiah Zamora had seven catches for 70 yards while Garry had 13 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

Greg Dulcich had seven receptions for 95 yards for St. Francis. The Golden Knights however had just 55 yards on the ground and 26 of those were courtesy of Perrantes.<\/p>\n

Cathedral improved to 9-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league while St. Francis fell to 9-1 and finished in second place. Both teams now await their seedings in the playoffs to be announced Sunday.<\/p>\n
