Northview DC Marcel Perez becomes Vikings HC<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Northview High School Athletic Director David Ochoa confirmed\u00a0to Mid Valley Sports\u00a0this afternoon\u00a0that Marcel Perez has accepted\u00a0an offer to be\u00a0the school&#8217;s next head football coach.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Perez was the Vikings defensive coordinator last year under Jim Arrellanes,\u00a0filling the opening created when\u00a0Brian Zavala left to take the Hacienda Heights Wilson post\u00a0after the 2008 season.<\/p>\n<p>A 1998 graduate of Northview, Perez also served as DC for one year under Todd Quinsey.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited,&#8221; said Perez who teaches physical education on campus. &#8220;To be coaching at your alma mater is a good thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings non-league schedule includes El Rancho, La Puente, Chino, and Walnut before\u00a0competing in the upgraded Valle Vista.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new additions definitely are going to make this a tough league,&#8221; Perez said. &#8220;It&#8217;s going to be a lot harder to make the playoffs now. We need to get ready and go after it.
