Victor Romero has stepped down as the HC at Mt. View<\/p><\/div>\n

\n(El Monte) – Victor Romero stepped down as the head football coach at Mt. View Thursday after six seasons.<\/p>\n

“Things are great right now on all sides of my life. It was just the best way to pass the whistle. I want everybody to know how great it is at Mountain View. The administration has been so supportive and the staff is great. It’s never been better and I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to coach here for the last six years,” Romero said. “My personal life is great as well. I have a wife who supports me in all I do. I wish I had the answer as to why I was stepping down. I just feel it is a good time. Mt. View is a great situation and I love it here. The new guy that comes in is going to have a great opportunity.”<\/p>\n

The Vikings went 5-5 this past season and 2-4 in the Mission Valley League. Romero also led them to a 5-5 record in 2013 but Mt. View failed to make the playoffs during his six-year tenure. Under Romero Mt. View was 26-39 overall and 7-27 in league.<\/p>\n

“As far as wins and losses that’s my fault. I probably needed to do a better job of coaching the kids up. I feel we have as much talent as anybody in the league,” Romero said. “The new guy that comes in here is going to be in a great situation. I already saw a comment on your site that said ‘coaching at View is tough.’ It’s the exact opposite. It’s great. The support has just been awesome.”<\/p>\n
