Bonita (0-0) at Arroyo (0-0) <\/strong><\/p>\n

New coach at Bonita in Steve Bogan but same quarterback in J.P. Andrade. The Bearcats can put points on the board. They’ve been pretty active on the passing circuit tuning up the offense. Arroyo of course is always active on the passing circuit. Ernesto Camacho is ready to rock for his senior year. The scoreboard should light up.<\/p>\n

California (0-0) at Schurr (0-0) <\/b><\/p>\n

All the talk in the off season has been on the Schurr transfers. Now it’s time to see what they can do on the field. Cal is looking to rebound from a 4-6 season. Beating the Spartans in the opener might be too much to ask.<\/p>\n

Los Altos (0-0) at Covina (0-0) Covina District Field <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Travis Brown era begins at Los Altos. It isn’t like the Conquerors need to rebuild. They were 7-4 last year under one-year coach Hector Spathias. Covina returns most of their key starters including quarterback Nin Burns II. Colts get the job done at home.<\/p>\n

El Monte (0-0) at Baldwin Park (0-0) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Josh Knight was the head coach at Baldwin Park and now he’s the AD. The new head coach will be named by kick off. Speaking of transfers El Monte has a few. One of them, Ben Owsley from Paramount has been running wild all summer. The big question here is can Baldwin Park stop the run? Maybe at times but not enough. El Monte wins the opener.<\/p>\n

Monrovia (0-0) at Burbank (0-0) Burroughs <\/strong><\/p>\n

Another new era gets underway Friday as well as Chris Williams takes the Reins at Monrovia. The Wildcats have looked good in the summer with AJ Carreon back at quarterback after a year at South El Monte. Burbank has had Monrovia’s number the last few years. This year, on the road, it won’t be any easier. Monrovia will battle but a Burbank play late will be the difference. Bulldogs come out with the W.<\/p>\n

Northview (0-0) at El Rancho (0-0) <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vikings lost some players including four-year starting quarterback Steven Comstock, but the cupboard is anything but bare. Receiver Damion Thompson and running back Martin Gutierez  both return to the offensive mix. El Rancho is coming off a disappointing 3-7 season a year ago and needs to get off on the right foot under head coach Adrian Medrano. The Dons have an advantage at home but Northview should have enough to hold them off.<\/p>\n

Muir (0-0) at Charter Oak (0-0) <\/strong><\/p>\n

This isn’t the Muir team of a few years ago. The Mustangs will be in a fight just to win the Pacific. Last year they went 6-4 (4-3 in league) and missed the playoffs. Charter Oak is well…Charter Oak. Lou Farrar is still there, no he hasn’t retired yet, he has another grandson playing, and the Chargers should be as good as ever. If Muir isn’t careful this could get out of hand early. Even if the Stangs are careful CO has too much. Charter Oak…big.<\/p>\n

La<\/strong> Salle (0-0) at Arcadia (0-0) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking of transfers, Arcadia has landed a few. The Apaches are loaded for bear and showed as much while winning the SGV Shootout at Arroyo in July. They have speed and the athletes to not just win the Pacific but make a deep playoff run in Division 8. La Salle saw the Russell Gordon era end and is now led by Andrew Pankow. It will be a good test for the Lancers to see where they’re at. They might hang around for awhile (first half) but Arcadia has too much. The Apaches will run away in the second half.<\/p>\n
