(Duarte) – Common football knowledge tells us that offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships. While this may be true, a good offensive battle will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Such was the case Friday evening at Falcon Field, as the Workman Lobos and Duarte Falcons combined for 1,037 yards and 106 total points. In the end, Workman won the contest 64-42.<\/p>\n
Workman (4-5, 3-1 in Montview League play) got off to a fast start.
\nIke Ill Udengwu connected with James Odom for a 26 yard score with 11:09 remaining in the game\u2019s opening quarter. This duo would connect on three additional occasions, connecting for scores of 44, 73, and 44 yards. Udengwu would also connect with Jonathan Soto for a passing score. In addition to his passing, Udengwu rushed for TD\u2019s of 11 and 14 yards. The remainder of the Workman \u201ctouchdown barrage\u201d was provided by Gilbert Guytan, who scored on a 49 yard touchdown run, and by Odom, who returned a kickoff 50 yards for a score. In the end, the Lobos amassed nine touchdowns and 588 yards from scrimmage.<\/p>\n
Duarte (3-6, 2-2) provided its fair share of offense. The Falcons scored six touchdowns, while posting 449 yards. Sophomore Jacob Canales tossed two TD scores\u2026the first, a 51 yard strike, was hauled in by senior wide out Daniel Cardenas. Canales\u2019 second TD toss was caught by tight end Robert Estrada. In addition to passing, Canales scored on a 24 yard touchdown scamper. In addition to Canales\u2019 run, the Falcons found running success in Senior Noah Bouza, who ran for 163 yards, while scoring three touchdowns.<\/p>\n
Workman finishes their Montview league season next\u00a0 Friday night as the Lobos play the Sierra Vista Dons at Baldwin Park High School. Duarte completes its Montview campaign by hosting the Azusa Aztecs. Kickoff time for both games is 7:00PM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
