(Azusa) – Robert Beltran has stepped down as the head football coach at Azusa multiple sources confirmed Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Beltran took over for Joe Scherf after the 2015 season and had an overall record of 15-18 in three years. He led the Aztecs to a 6-6 mark in 2016 and into the second round of the CIF Division 13 playoffs. Azusa beat Carnegie in the first round before falling to Santa Ana in the round two.<\/p>\n
The Aztecs went 5-6 in 2017 and lost to Rio Hondo Prep 42-22 in the first round. Last season Azusa was 4-6 overall and third place in the Montview League and missed the playoffs.<\/p>\n
No specific reason was given at this time for Beltran’s departure.<\/p>\n
