(Whittier) – California running back Vance Johnson scored to tie the game and in overtime to give the Condors a 22-16 victory over visiting El Dorado Thursday night.<\/p>\n
After a scoreless first quarter the Condors got on the board when junior quarterback Gio Miranda hit Bryce Bernal from eight yards to make it 6-0 after a missed extra point.<\/p>\n
The Hawks got on the board as time expired in the first half with a 38-yard field goal.<\/p>\n
On the returning kickoff of the second half El Dorado\u2019s Jackson Smith took it 90-yards to paydirt giving the Hawks a 10-3 lead.<\/p>\n
Later in the third quarter El Dorado tacked on another field goal to make it 13-3.<\/p>\n
Early in the fourth quarter the Hawks got on the board again with a field goal making it 16-6.<\/p>\n
Cal, on a first and goal on the two yard line, chose to pass but a sack moved the Condors back. However they were able to get a field goal out of the drive making it 16-9.<\/p>\n
After multiple El Dorado miscues, Cal was able to drive up field and Johnson took it in from 12-yards out tying the game 16-16.<\/p>\n
Quarterback Kristofer Snipes drove the Hawks down the field hitting wideout Luc Vanlanan twice and putting El Dorado on the 23 yard line with 16-seconds left and two timeouts. The Hawks elected to let the time rundown to two seconds and try a field goal. The ball was bobbled and the game headed into overtime.<\/p>\n
Cal got the ball first and handed it to Johnson twice and he took it in. After a blocked PAT it was 22-16 Condors.<\/p>\n
El Dorado couldn\u2019t get anything going on their turn in overtime through the air and the last play was two yards out of the back of the endzone giving the Condors a come from behind win.<\/p>\n
Johnson finished with 18-carries for 163-yards with the two most important scores. Miranda went 10 of 19 for 108-yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n
El Dorado gained 162 total yards of offense, Snipes went 11 of 20 for 102 yards.<\/p>\n
Cal 3-0 faces city team South East next week while El Dorado will take on Valencia.<\/p>\n
