{"id":67544,"date":"2019-09-13T22:00:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T05:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=67544"},"modified":"2019-09-14T07:23:12","modified_gmt":"2019-09-14T14:23:12","slug":"tartans-stay-perfect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=67544","title":{"rendered":"Tartans Stay Perfect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Alex Gonzalez<\/p>\n<p>Glendora \u2014 In a battle of undefeated teams, Glendora quarterback Jacob Gonzalez kept his team\u2019s perfect record intact Friday night when he tossed three touchdown passes in the Tartans&#8217; 21-13 win over Los Altos at Citrus college.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe stepped up,\u201d said HC Brandon Rohrer after the game. \u201cI\u2019m very proud of him, and he made plays when he needed too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For starters, the Tartan offense marched down the field to score the games first touchdown. Gonzalez connected with Cade Marshman from 15 yards out in which he had to dive to complete the catch.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Glendora then had to wait until 3:52 in the second quarter for Gonzalez to find AJ Salgado who was running across the goal line, putting the score at 14-0 after the PAT.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Los Altos then made the game interesting when the team\u2019s fake punt worked to perfection when Zedekiah Rodriguez grabbed Justin Gaytan\u2019s pass and went the distance for the score. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Momentum started to build for Los Altos when Rodriguez was on another receiving end for a touchdown when the team was buried in their territory.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>David Hacegaba, who had replaced Gaytan,\u00a0 dropped back and darted his pass to Rodriguez on the quick screen, and he took it to pay dirt. However, the team missed the PAT and was down one point at the start of the fourth quarter.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Tartans wasted no time to put the game away on their ensuing possession when Gonzalez found Blake Welte alone for a 54-yard strike.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After turnovers by both offenses, the Conquerors had a chance late to force overtime, but both of Hacegaba\u2019s passes in the end zone were broken up by Glendora\u2019s secondary.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey got some momentum there. They did a great job; they executed well,\u201d said Rohrer. \u201cBut, we bounced back, and we made plays.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the win, Glendora looks to stay perfect next week when they play West Covina next Thursday night at Citrus College.
