Not only have they won their first three games but they have outscored their opponents 146-14. Crescenta Valley though is a different animal. The Falcons are also unbeaten and have put it on its three opponents as well. CV, as always, will be in the hunt, if not the outright favorite to win the league. Pasadena is close but Crescenta Valley has already arrived. The Phantoms have been looking forward to this one since last year when Amat beat them by three scores. Cathedral has suffered just one setback but a loss to Cajon isn’t exactly one to sweat about. Bishop Amat has just one loss as well – to JSerra. If you want to see some “Big Boy” football Cathedral High School is the place to be Friday night. It will be a test of wills, a heavyweight battle if you will. While Monrovia looks improved from last year’s edition Covina, while competitive, isn’t nearly as explosive. The Wildcats fell two weeks ago to Los Altos but bounced back nicely last Saturday night with an impressive win over South Hills. The Colts have won their last two after a win over West Covina last week.\u00a0 Covina will come to play but this year M-Town has too much. I think it’s safe to say this one will be like last year’s. La Serna is good. I mean really, really good. Montebello is still trying to find its way. Northview has established itself as a power knocking over everyone in its path. Los Altos has been impressive as well even in its one defeat. The Conquerors loss last week to undefeated Glendora was only decided by one score. Could go either way. Flip a coin and you’ll probably have just as good of a shot to pick the winner. The pick here is Northview. Arroyo has won its last two after an opening night loss to Bonita. The Knights have scored 105 points in their last two games. Rio Hondo has steam rolled its three opponents while pitching two shutouts. This is the first time these two schools have ever played even though they’re a nine iron away from each other. The Kares can ball, no question, and will make a some big plays at times but Arroyo should prevail as long as the Knights don’t take anything for granted. Schurr had a momentum building win last week erasing a 21 point deficit to stun Rosemead. Both teams need a win heading into league play. Whittier can run the ball and at times the Spartans have had trouble stopping the run. The Cardinals ground attack eventually wears Schurr down.
