{"id":67987,"date":"2019-10-17T20:25:11","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T03:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=67987"},"modified":"2019-10-18T00:55:08","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T07:55:08","slug":"covina-35-san-dimas-25-half","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=67987","title":{"rendered":"San Dimas Survives Covina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_67997\" style=\"width: 484px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?attachment_id=67997\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-67997\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67997\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/san-dimas-covina--e1571384581713.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"229\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67997\" srcset=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/san-dimas-covina--e1571384581713.jpg 474w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/san-dimas-covina--e1571384581713-70x34.jpg 70w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/san-dimas-covina--e1571384581713-400x193.jpg 400w, http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/san-dimas-covina--e1571384581713-150x72.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-67997\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It was a wild nght at Covina District Field.<\/p><\/div>By George Hernandez <\/p>\n<p>[Covina] &#8211; San Dimas&#8217; three headed backfield rallied the Saints from a 10-point halftime deficit to lead them to a 58-55 victory over Covina at Covina District Field Thursday night in Valle Vista League action. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Colts struck on their first possession as quarterback Daniel Arochi threw a perfect pass to an open Matt Mannino for a 60-yard score.<\/p>\n<p>San Dimas got to work with their ground and pound offense and Bleau Wallace capped it off with a 10-yard scoring run making it 7-6 after the Saints missed a two point conversion. <\/p>\n<p>Covina put Mannino to work again this time as running back Eric Cuellar hit Mannino with a tight pass and after a few broken tackles and 55-yards later Colts had the lead at 14-6. <\/p>\n<p>The Saints matched it, this time with Jacob Buccola who broke through the Colts defense for a 65-yard scamper to paydirt putting the score at 14-12 after another missed two point conversion. <\/p>\n<p>San Dimas finally got a stop and took the lead when Nicholas Cuda busted off a 34-yard touchdown run giving the Saints their first advantage at 18-14. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar started working his magic on the ground and broke through the defense for a six yard score and a 21-18 Colts lead. <\/p>\n<p>Neither team made a stop in the second quarter. Cuda got in the end zone for a second time for the Saints on a seven yard blast, Cuellar got his second touchdown pass of the game when he hit Mannino again and Cuellar would break the plane this time on a 21-yard run. That put the score at 35-25 Colts at halftime. <\/p>\n<p>San Dimas got the ball first in the second half and capitalized. Wallace got his second score of the game from six yards out and after a Saints stop Wallace visited the end zone again this time from two yards making it 38-35, Saints with their first lead. <\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t last long however as Cuellar stumbled but stood on his feet and went all the way to the house on a 64-yard score, making it 42-38 Colts. <\/p>\n<p>Wallace and Cuda answered back for the Saints on scoring runs of 22 and 13-yards. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar went back behind center and hit a Tim Tebow fake run to pass play for a touchdown to Donovan Zackary getting the Colts within three at 51-48.<\/p>\n<p>Saints put up some insurance points when Buccola got his second score of the day on a 10-yard sweep. <\/p>\n<p>Arochi, back behind center,he hit Danny Urrea on a 38-yard touchdown pass making it a three point game again at 58-55, but the Colts failed to recover the onside kick and the Saints ran the last two minutes out. <\/p>\n<p>Cuellar finished 6 of 9 passing for 123 yards and with three touchdown passes and a interception. He also had 28-carries for 234 yards and three scores. Quarterback Arochi went 7 of 14 for 171 yards and two passing touchdowns. Urrea had a interception for the Colts on defense.<\/p>\n<p>The Saints rushed for 563-yards, Wallace 27-carries for 197-yards and four scores, he also had two catches for 20-yards. Buccola had seven carries racking up 105-yards and two touchdowns and a interception.
