(Covina) – Legendary Charter Oak head football coach Lou Farrar passed away from complications from Leukemia Sunday at the age of 73. <\/p>\n
Charter Oak Football released this on Twitter. <\/p>\n
“This morning Big Lou passed away peacefully from complications due to leukemia. He was diagnosed in April. His family will think of him everyday & are so grateful they had him as a guiding force in their lives & the lives of so many others. Funeral services will be shared soon.” <\/p>\n
Farrar coached high school football for 52 years overall and 39 years at Charter Oak. He had 335 wins overall which ranks him sixth all-time in the California record books for high school coaches.<\/p>\n
For the last few years there were numerous rumors and speculations that Farrar was going to retire. When I asked him about it at the Charter Oak Tournament in May of 2018 he told me how much coaching means to him especially when it comes to family. <\/p>\n
“Yeah I thought about retiring but I can’t retire now. My grandson, who is going to be a freshman this year told me ‘I want to play for you Papa,” Farrar said. And so the legend remained on the sideline. <\/p>\n
Farrar battled until he end before the disease wouldn’t allow him to continue. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
