I could see it in their eyes every time we walked out there under the lights. It was depressing to see how scared and the lack of fight most had in them. It seemed like most enjoyed wearing the jersey to class every Friday and being able to say “I play football” than to actually go out and fulfill what it really means to go out and play for the person to your right and to your left.” – Armando Beltran (TE/DE c/o ’02)

“A lot of guys went half ass at practice and blamed others after a loss.” – Frank Hernandez (QB c/o ’03)

“Kids who have experience playing pop-Warner football do not go Mountain View. I coached there for 9 years and never had more than 1-2 players with pop warner experience in any given year. Sometimes we would have none. I believe that players who have experience and want to play and be successful, know not to go to Mountain View because it is not a “winning football school” instead of trying to be the difference in the team.” – Jerry Rivas (former player and coach).

“Starts with culture. It’s futbol vs. football. Futbol players go to the view and stay for 4 years. I know we lose some players to other programs because of the lack of success.” – Lupe Nieves (former player and coach).

“They have athletes. Have always had athletes. But it doesn’t seem all those athletes play football. Go back to when they won league last time in basketball (2017). I saw them on the court and thought it was a good thing for the MVL that they didn’t all play football. You get those guys, some of their soccer kids and the kids that played football all on one team and you can win. But it has to start at the top.” – Jim Singiser (Former Arroyo HC).

“Man it’s tough. It’s hard to win because they never have!
