In fact Diamond Bar is coming off two. However the Colts did face a tough opponent in Glendora. They should have enough to win here.

Covina 21 Diamond Bar 13

Friday September 3

Arroyo (1-0) at Schurr (1-1)

Arroyo looked good in all facets in a win over Ganesha. Yes I know it was Ganesha but the Knights did what they needed to do. Schurr bounced back from a loss to Cal with a big win over South Torrance. Good close game is in the offing. Arroyo wins it in the fourth.

Arroyo 31 Schurr 28

Charter Oak (2-0) at Glendora (2-0) (Citrus College)

Nice local matchup here. Both teams are 2-0 and both are playing efficient football in the first two weeks. Charter Oak started slow last week against Northview but once the offense got rolling the Chargers pulled away. Interesting stat: Charter Oak has scored 62 points in the first two games while Glendora has scored 64. Offenses are even but look for the defense to make a big play. Chargers win close.

Charter Oak 30 Glendora 27

Los Altos (1-1) at Monrovia (2-0)

Carlos Hernandez, Noah Rodriguez, Jaylen Moore, Josh Barron…the list of talent goes on and on for Monrovia. Los Altos, coming off a 35-0 loss to Ayala is going to have its work cut out against the Wildcats. The Conquerors will compete but if Monrovia gets a couple of scores early it could be a long night for LA. Monrovia wins its third straight.

Monrovia 38 Los Altos 14

Paraclete (1-1) at Pasadena (1-1)

Maybe the best game on the docket. Pasadena is proving it’s for real and we already know Paraclete is. The Bulldogs got their first win last week in a rout of El Camino Real while the Spirits fell to Garces (Bakersfield). When I looked at the Pasadena non-league death march before the season started I had them going 3-2. This is their second loss. Paraclete gets it done.

Paraclete 34 Pasadena 27

South El Monte (1-0) at Montebello (0-2) (Thursday)

The Eagles had the week off last week due to COVID-19 protocols while Montebello is coming off a 49-17 loss to San Dimas. The Oilers defense needs to tighten up. They have allowed 90 points in two games. The Eagles can score too having lit up Alhambra for 42 in Zero Week but the Moors defense has also been less than stout. Expect a lot of points with the Oilers scoring more.

Montebello 35 South El Monte 31

Northview (1-1) at South Hills (0-2) (Covina District Field)

Northview stayed with Charter Oak for a half after beating up on La Puente in Zero Week. South Hills is off to a rocky start. The Huskies are 0-2 and were routed last week by Etiwanda 42-6. The Vikings will need more of a complete game effort to get it done here. They have enough to get their second win.

Northview 28 South Hills 14

Sierra Vista (0-1) at El Rancho (2-0)

El Rancho has been on a roll outscoring its first two opponents 77-0.
