Trying to figure out the Jack Del Rio League has driven me to madness!<\/p><\/div>\n

T-Minus-29 Days until \u201cThe Mid Valley Classic\u201d<\/p>\n

Good afternoon!<\/p>\n

Congrats to the El Monte American Juniors…as they qualified last night for the Little League Juniors World Series in Michigan…(We got a story coming)… I believe, thinking back to my District 18 coverage days, this may be the first time a team from District 18 has qualified for a Little League World Series….(Welcome the correction)…Congrats to longtime EMA President Terry Farfan and long time E-Board member the Immortal Bob Butler.<\/p>\n

Oh, didn\u2019t you know? I\u2019ve always been a Jay Gibbons fan.<\/p>\n

A grey shirt at a local junior college is hardly news, but when it comes from somebody who had some nice moments locally you smile at the news…<\/p>\n

Former Temple City wide receiver Kenny Werner, who caught 23 passes, averaged 18-yards a catch, and scored six touchdowns in 2008, is currently grey shirting at Mt. Sac.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s pretty cool…And then Werner said former TC quarterback Morgan Hatch was in line to serve as the Mounties back up (second string) this season. That\u2019s a huge deal.<\/p>\n

Mentioned this to Peterson at the office last night and he smiled; \u201cThat\u2019s cool, maybe those dudes can pull something…<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

Note from Whittier Christian Faithful: \u201cJoel Rhone is gonna start at RB for us, Grant Escobar will get some carries too.\u201d<\/p>\n

So essentially my lobbying for Rudy Robles to get 10 to 15 carries a game went for naught…<\/p>\n

My bad…gotta remember I write about sports…I don\u2019t coach or play sports… I\u2019m still letting that offer to coach freshman quarterbacks at Glenn in 1985 go to my head.<\/p>\n

Former Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks, who I thought retired two years ago, actually retired today…Not necessarily a huge fan, but he was a great player…<\/p>\n

Note to Villathedevil: (Mr. Bengal Fan)… Larry Kinnebrew played for your team from 1983 to 1990, he scored 47 touchdowns, and rushed 3,133-yards…No, he didn\u2019t play linebacker… You saying he played linebacker, would be like me saying Mike Guman played quarterback for the Rams.<\/p>\n

Love the \u201cbubble\u201d discussion we had last night…(Except for that part around the 16 minute mark) it really gets interesting…Especially if you think how the pool could shrink if two teams were taken out of the Valle Vista…The wild card of the wild cards, I\u2019m convinced is Blair. I\u2019m not predicting a deep playoff run…but because they literally have a shot at beating; La Canada, South Pasadena, San Marino, and Temple City this season…not saying they will…just saying they could…<\/p>\n

Still dancing with LC for second in the Rio Hondo.<\/p>\n

Outside of players, I\u2019m just about done predicting, prognosticating, debating or even guessing about the Jack Del Rio League…It spins my head right round…right round…<\/p>\n

For the record…I went to my first Dodger game in August of 1975…Willie Crawford homered…I went to my most recent Dodger game last season and saw Eric Stults pitch a complete game shutout…35 seasons, a ton of games…and I have never, not once, not even come close, to getting a sniff of a foul ball or a homerun ball…Neither has anyone sitting next to me.<\/p>\n

So with that said…my wife, or date, or friend, or anybody else ever had to or has to worry about me punking out with a ball heading our direction. It\u2019s just not going to happen.<\/p>\n

Speaking of Temple City…Carlos Mota was great last night…I pushed and pushed to get him to say he was a harder hitter than longtime friend and current Rosemead Panther Andrew Gibson…and he wouldn\u2019t bite…Mota is a perfect fit for HC Mike McFarland.<\/p>\n
