Arcadia came off a big win two weeks ago over Arroyo with a loss to Rim of the World last week. Once the Apaches are completely healthy and get a couple of players cleared they should be fine. Burroughs, the defending Pacific League champs, beat Los Altos last week to improve to 2-1. Arcadia could pull an upset if everything goes right. However Burroughs can cause some problems. The Bears should have enough.

Burroughs 21 Arcadia 7

Glendora (1-2) at Ayala (2-2)

Glendora has had a tough non-league schedule. The Tartans have another test against Ayala. Glendora fell to Northview last week while Ayala lost to Villa Park. The Bulldogs haven’t had it easy either. Evenly matched game. It will be a battle throughout until Ayala pulls it out late.

Ayala 24 Glendora 21

Bonita (4-0) at Kaiser (0-4)

This would have been a good game in recent years – not this year. Bonita is flying high while it’s been a struggle for Kaiser. The Bearcats had everything clicking in a 40-point win over San Dimas in the Smudge Pot. Kaiser has a new coach and is still looking for its first win. Last week the Cats were humbled by Claremont 38-0. Dylan Robinson, Travis Lippert and Bonita get started early and never look back. Bearcats win big.

Bonita 52 Kaiser 7

Don Lugo (1-3) at Chino (0-4) – Milk Can

Don Lugo gave Monrovia everything it wanted last week. The Conquistadores had a lead in the fourth quarter but it got away in a one-point loss. It’s been tough sledding for Chino out of the gate. The Cowboys, although they have played a competitive schedule, are 0-4. Last week they fell to Schurr 27-14 on Thursday night. Chino will keep it close but in the end Don Lugo’s offense will prove to be too much. The Conquistadores come out on top to win the Milk Can.

Don Lugo 28 Chino 21

Maranatha (3-1) at La Canada (4-0)

La Canada has been raising eyebrows around the SGV with four straight wins to start the season. Last week the Spartans beat Santa Paula 28-20. They have also had impressive wins over La Salle, 35-0, and Cantwell, 41-0. Maranatha had one hiccup, although it was a big hiccup. The Minutemen were routed by Rio Hondo Prep 56-14 two weeks ago. Both teams can score although La Canada’s defense has been shutting opponents down. The Spartans have only given up 27 points in four games to go along with two shutouts. La Canada gets it done on both sides of the ball.

La Canada 31 Maranatha 14

JSerra (4-0) at Damien (3-1)

Maybe the Game of the Week as these two heavyweight slug it out. Damien currently the number 1 team in the Mid Valley, facing off against JSerra, one of the Top 10 teams in the nation. Damien suffered its only loss of the season last week in a 34-30 loss to Mira Costa. JSerra, hailing from the Trinity League, beat Lincoln (San Diego) 28-19. To give you an idea of the Lions talent they bet Sierra Canyon 35-7 in Week Zero. Damien will stay with JSerra for awhile, maybe into the second half. But eventually the Lions simply will have too much. JSerra gets the W.

JSerra 38 Damien 21

Burbank (2-1) at Muir (1-2)

Don’t let the records deceive you. Muir has lost to two solid teams in Charter Oak and Bonita and then last week pulled off a nice win over St. Francis. The Mustangs have talent including a dual threat quarterback in Keyon Mills. Burbank has won two straight after getting routed in the opener by San Dimas. Now comes the real challenge for the Bulldogs- Pacific League play. Muir wins handily.

Muir 35 Burbank 13

El Monte (1-2) at Baldwin Park (1-3)

El Monte is 1-2 in the record books but 3-0 on the field. The Lions were handed two losses by forfeit. Last week they ran over Whittier 42-6. Baldwin Park picked up its first win of the season last week beating rival Sierra Vista 40-8. Looks like a shootout as both teams have shown the ability to score. The Braves find a way to win late.

Baldwin Park 35 El Monte 31

Quick Hits

Thursday September 19

Bassett at Pioneer – Pioneer

Los Amigos at Nogales – Los Amigos

Friday September 20

La Puente at Rosemead – La Puente

Rancho Cucamonga at Bishop Amat – Bishop Amat

Bellflower at Rio Hondo Prep (Kare Park) – Rio Hondo Prep

Temple City at Azusa (Citrus College)- Temple City

Arroyo at Cantwell – Cantwell

Glendale at Pasadena – Glendale

[12816,3

post-85662","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hsfootball","category-high-school-sports
["GET
