News is buzzing around Tom Brady’s reach-out and ski trip with Matthew Stafford. Brady is attempting to get Stafford looking at Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The Raiders are a more credible possibility than the Giants and the Steelers. It’s compelling, but it’s still the Raiders. <\/p>\n

Also, something to consider, as Brady becomes more hands-on with the franchise, is how long it will be until the NFL and Fox are forced to take action?<\/p>\n

You don’t need to be a lawyer to see a conflict of interest case brewing. <\/p>\n

Remembering the late Jim Bertelsen on what would have been his 75th birthday today.<\/p>\n

The Rams acquired Bertelsen 2\/31\/1972 out of Texas. He played with the Rams through 1976.<\/p>\n

\"\"The draft pick came in the deal sending Deacon Jones to the Chargers after the 1971 season. The Rams acquired a second-round pick and a pair of thirds as part of the trade.<\/p>\n

Bertelsen in \u20181972 and Lawrence McCutcheon in 3\/70\/1972. The third-round pick was used on Oregon tackle Tim Stokes on 3\/60\/1973. Stokes was traded to Washington in 1975. (Stokes was the last Ram to wear #78 before the arrival of Jackie Slater in 1976.)<\/p>\n

Starting seven games as a rookie in 1972, Bertelsen rushed for 591 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes. His best season was in 1973 when he was paired with McCutcheon and rushed for 854 yards and four scores. He caught 19 passes and was named to the Pro Bowl along with McCutcheon that year.<\/p>\n

Injuries, John Cappelletti’s arrival, and Cullen Bryant’s development from DB to FB curtailed Bertelsen’s playing time. <\/p>\n

Among the Rams’ final cuts before the 1977 season, Bertelsen retired at 26 and went into business in Texas. He passed away 5\/6\/2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
