The Los Angeles Angels are 5-4 this Cactus League season–through Sunday. <\/p>\n

Early on, Jorge Soler has been doing the most damage with five hits, two home runs, and six runs batted in, in just 10 at-bats.<\/p>\n

The battle to replace Mike Trout in center between Mickey Moniak and Jo Adell is starting slowly. Moniak is only two of 15 so far, and Adell is a mere two of 14, but one of Adell\u2019s hits is a home run.<\/p>\n

Veteran shortstop Tim Anderson is struggling. The former White Sox standout is one for 11, .091, with an OBP of .233. His lone hit? A home run.<\/p>\n

On the mound, Kyle Hendricks is off to a good start. The former Cub hurler has started two games, is 2-0, pitched five innings, and has not allowed a run or walk. He\u2019s registered six strikeouts.<\/p>\n

After a rough opener, southpaw Reid Detmers has settled down. <\/p>\n

The Halos have two big hopes in the bullpen.<\/p>\n

One is that Ben Joyce\u2019s strong finish in 2024 was the real deal. Standing 6-5\/224, Joyce fits the suit of a future closer after being drafted 89th overall in 2022 out of Tennessee. A hundred-mile-an-hour fastball also helps. He\u2019s 24.<\/p>\n

The second hope is that Kenley Jansen has enough left in his arm–and cutter–to bridge the gap until Joyce is ready to take over closing duties. Jansen, with 447 career saves, is 37 <\/p>\n
