The Lancers looked liked the Lancers. Warren has played a couple of quality opponents but has come up empty so far. It will be more of the same for the Bears this week. La Serna has too much.

La Serna 27 Warren 13

Rio Hondo Prep (2-0) at Maranatha (2-0)

Great local matchup between two unbeaten teams. A contest of contrasting styles as Maranatha will sling it with Cooper Berry while Rio Hondo Prep will pound it with Nathaniel Shine and company. Kares running back Noah Penunuri, who was injured in Week Zero and didn’t play last week, is still questionable..

The Minutemen will score some points. With Berry and Nico Vergara that’s guaranteed. But can they contain the Rio Hondo Prep running game? They may at times but in the end the Kares will will wear them down. Rio Hondo Prep remains unbeaten.

Rio Hondo Prep 31 Maranatha 21

Friday September 5

Covina (1-1) at Diamond Ranch (1-1)

Diamond Ranch picked up a victory in Week Zero but took a gut punch last week from Bonita. Covina had another shootout last week but this time came up short. The Colts are dangerous with Roy Vasquez at quarterback and now Matthew Olivas is back as well at receiver.

The Colts should be fine in this one. But the defense will need to make more stops than last week. Covina gets the win…close.

Covina 28 Diamond Ranch 24

San Gabriel (2-0) at El Monte (2-0)

El Monte has run roughshod over its first two opponents racking up 84 points in the process. San Gabriel is unbeaten as well but had to score on the last play in Week Zero to get the victory. The Lions are on a roll right now. They aren’t about to let the Matadors slow them down. El Monte improves to 3-0.

El Monte 31 San Gabriel 24

Colony (1-1) at San Dimas (2-0)

San Dimas had a nice bounce back victory last week over Pasadena after a rough opening night loss to Burbank. Colony belted Ontario Christian but then got belted by Norco. Should be a close game that will come down to who makes a play defensively late in the game

Colony gets a lead in the fourth quarter and the defense stands up to hold off the Saints.

Update: Burbank had to forfeit the win over San Dimas making the Saints record 2-0.

Colony 24 San Dimas 21

Muir (1-0) at Charter Oak (2-0)

This is the game of the week. Charter Oak is coming off a huge win over Upland while Muir had a week to rest after a three point victory over Bonita. Athletes all over the field on both sides. Muir will be in it throughout but the Chargers come out on top..Corin Berry or Antonio Reasby, or both, will come up big.

Charter Oak 28 Muir 24

Baldwin Park (2-0) at California (1-1)

Baldwin Park won a shootout last week. We knew head coach Robert Maxie would have an explosive offense and we’ve seen that in the first two weeks. Cal has surprised some people winning its first game but the Condors fell last week to Sunny Hills.

Another high scoring affair is expected as both teams are capable of lighting it up. Baldwin Park comes out on top. Elvis will be in the building!
