The extra point attempt was blocked leaving the score at 13-7.

The Spartans had San Gabriel backed up at its own 7-yard-line but Garcia hit Lowe who broke a couple of tackles and then broke loose for a 93-yard catch and run for a score with 9:33 left in the second quarter. The Mats never scored again.

Schurr struck twice before halftime. Torres kept it himself to score on a four-yard TD run that finished a 72-yard drive. The 52-yard run by Carrasco set up the touchdown run.

With 52 seconds left in the second quarter Torres found Tyler Higashi on a 7-yard touchdown pass and Schurr took a 26-14 lead into the half.

The Spartans pieced together a 10-play, 65-yard march to open the third quarter. It was Higashi again on the receiving end of a nine-yard touchdown toss from Torres. Higashi made a diving grab in the corner of the endzone with a defender hanging all over him.

The Schurr defense stepped up as well. First he caught a 34-yard touchdown pass in which he literally stole the ball from the San Gabriel defensive back in the endzone. on the very next play from scrimmage he picked off a Garcia pass and returned it 25 yards for a score. The pick six gave Schurr a 47-14 lead and Chavez had scored 12 points in less than 10 seconds.

Higashi added a little gravy with his third touchdown of the night on a four-yard run with 6:37 left in the game. His score started a running clock.

For San Gabriel Lowe had five receptions for 127 yards and two scores. Garcia, who threw the two touchdowns had 202 yards through the air.

Carrasco had a monster night for Schurr, but Higashi wasn’t too bad himself with 50 yards and a touchdown rushing and two touchdowns receiving. Torres, a freshman, threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns and also had a touchdown rushing. Aguila had eight catches for 70 yards and a score.

San Gabriel fell from the ranks of the unbeaten dropping to 5-1 and 0-1 in the Almont.
