The Wildcats fumbled three times and\u00a0threw an interception in the contest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more-->&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to beat a team turning the ball over four times.\u00a0It&#8217;s not going to happen,&#8221; said Monrovia Coach\u00a0Ryan Maddox.\u00a0&#8220;We got a lot to work on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The score was tied 7-7 at halftime\u00a0but\u00a0\u00a0Glendora fell on a\u00a0Monrovia fumble late in the second quarter at the Wildcat 33.\u00a0From there the Tartans put together six play\u00a0drive\u00a0with quarterback\u00a0Chad Jeffries\u00a0finishing it with a one yard run.\u00a0Jeffries also hit\u00a0Donovan Holmes on an 18 yard screen pass to set up the score.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth quarter, Glendora iced it by piecing together\u00a012 play, 68 ayrd drive. Demetrius Hicks went up the gut for ten yards to cap the drive with 5:41 left for an insurmountable 21-7 lead .\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats had three consecutive possessions in the second half\u00a0that ended\u00a0in fumbles that Glendora recovered. Early in the third period,\u00a0Monrovia drove all the way down to the Tartan 17\u00a0before coughing it up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Glendora scored first with when Holmes\u00a0took a screen pass from Jeffries and turned it into a 17 yard touchdown. Monrovia tied it\u00a0in the second\u00a0on a one yard plunge by Derrick Johnson. The touchdown was set up by a 51 yard pass play from Nick Bueno to\u00a0Brandon\u00a0Wigenbach.<\/p>\n<p>It was only one of three passes Bueno completed on the night as he went 3-12 for 55 yards.\u00a0He did most of his damage running the ball gaining 113 yards on 17 carries.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries finished\u00a09-20 for 141 yards. He also had\u00a046 yards and a touchdown on the ground.\u00a0Monrovia&#8217;s\u00a0defense led by Ellis McCarthy\u00a0put plenty of pressure on Jeffries early to keep the Cats in the game.\u00a0M-Town sacked\u00a0Jeffiries\u00a0four times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought our defense played\u00a0well but I think we got tired. When we turned the ball over we left them on a short field,&#8221; Maddox said.<\/p>\n<p>Corey Victoria was the workhorse for Glendora. He carried the ball 19 times for 108 yards. Hicks had four carries for 35 yards and a score.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Monrovia is a very good team. They&#8217;re going to win a lot of ball\u00a0games,&#8221; said Glendora Coach Mark\u00a0Pasquarella.\u00a0&#8220;We had a lot of dropped balls tonight\u00a0and\u00a0we need to do a better job inside the 20 yard\u00a0lines. We were a little nervous coming in because we knew Monrovia\u00a0has a good team. As far as Jeffiries he\u00a0just makes things happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Next week Monrovia wil host Arcadia in the first game in the refurbished stadium at Monrovia High. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:00 pm.
